Tripura’s Multi-crore Chit Fund s | AGARTALA, Jan 12 (TIWN): Third day of Tripura assembly's winter session on Tuesday began with the question-answer session between the opposition and the ruling government. Amidst the question hour, leaders of the opposition party raised various issues including giving land to the chit fund companies in the state from the end of the state government. In a question raised by the opposition MLA Gopal Chandra Roy, to Industries and commerce Minister Tapan Chakraborty turned chaotic. MLA Gopal Chandra Roy stated that despite of knowing- Icore, RAMEL and Rose valley a chit fund organisations, why the state government had allotted them land in the state. In the earlier days of the assembly Finance minister of Tripura, Bhanu Lal Saha has made it clear that it is not possible for the State government to take responsibility of returning money of nearly 14-lakh depositors laundered by the chit fund organisations. He was responding to a privet member’s resolution on this issue in the state assembly.The opposition members alleged that the state government cannot avoid responsibility as the ministers themselves campaigned in favour of various chit funds. At the winter session Tripura Assembly, yet on Monday question arises that how many houses are left to get electricity connection. State Government where set to supply 100MW power to Bangladesh, a section of people in various interior parts of the state are yet to get electricity connection. The ground reality says that even today many of the families are yet suffering due to no electricity connection in the various interior parts of the state. The Centre in consultation with the Tripura government had decided to sell 100MW power after the Bangladesh government allowed free transhipment of heavy turbines for the 726.6MW Palatana thermal power plant. The total expense for construction of transmission lines and towers is of Rs 250 crores, of which Rs. 83 crores is for construction in Tripura. Reportedly, The 100 MW power will be dispatched to Bangladesh from Suryamaninagar power sub-station at the outskirts of Agartala and for transmission of 100 MW power, the works on transmission lines is completed on 400 KV double circuit transmission lines. About 143 towers are set up for 47 kilometre long transmission lines up to South Comilla of Bangladesh. About Rs. 250 crores is utilized to complete the transmission lines. | 11-Jan-2016 |

Rs. 5,000 crore urea fertilizer plant ye | AGARTALA, Jan 11 (TIWN): Almost after a year Tripura government is yet reluctant to take any initiatives to mobilise the Rs. 5,000 crore urea fertilizer plant which is still lying dead in the 800 acres of land allotted to set up a Urea fertiliser plant at Khobal in Unakoti district of Tripura. The lacklustre attitude in the commencement of the Chambal Fertilizers and Chemicals has left the spot into a barren land resulting chaos among the common men. Chambal Fertilisers has signed a pact with ONGC and the Tripura government to set up a urea plant in the state, The much awaited project is delaying due to the negligence of the ruling party and somewhat also the shortage of gas supply by ONGC is also to be blamed for the delay in the commissioning of the 5,000 crore urea fertilizer plant. Negligence has hit the project and no progress is seen in the spot. It is mostly spoiling the endangered species of turtles found in the lake.When the full state is concerned about the extinction of rare Bostami turtles, including environmentalists and the government itself, the Udaipur authorities failed to maintain purity of water, and thus the inhabitants of lake is again in trouble. Unfortunately, Gomati District Administration is being headed by an arrogant District Magistrate Sonal Goel, who prefers threatening every TIWN journalist enquiring about the lapses of her administration, whether its sensitive passport scams or District’s massive increase in child rapes or lackluster attitude of administration in repairing roads or keeping Matabari clean . No initiatives to clear the pending bill | AGARTALA / DHAKA, Jan 10 (TIWN): After several doldrums Tripura government has finally decided the tariff to supply power to Bangladesh from next month in exchange of Rs 5.50 against per unit of power.Talking to TIWN correspondent on sunday, power Minister Manik Dey said that a MoU has been signed between the representatives of India and Bangladesh and it is being decided that India will supply power to Bangladesh in exchange of Rs 5.50 against per unit of power to Bangladesh. Minister also added that the power supply will commenced from next month.The Indian delegation led by power minister Manik Dey held a meeting with the Bangladesh team led by their power minister Mr Nasrul Hamid at Dhaka and finalized the rate and signed the MoU against the agreement. On the one hand Tripura government finalizes to supply 100MW power to Bangladesh but a bitter truth is that TSECL is about to crores of money to the power plants in Tripura and no major initiative is taken to clear the bills. The two-day Bengal Global Business Summit organised by the West Bengal government concluded on Saturday attracting investment proposals worth at least Rs.2,50,104 crore ($37 billion), Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced here.Addressing industrialists on the summit's concluding day, she said the manufacturing sector has drawn proposals valued at Rs.1,16,958 crore.Banerjee said the proposals have come from a wide range of sectors like mining, textile, power, IT and telecom, urban development, housing, tourism, health transport and education."Many MoUs have been signed and many are in the process. We are yet to make detailed estimates of the proposals. The investment proposals are not less than Rs.2,50,104 crore," she said.The previous edition of the BGBS had netted investment proposals of Rs.2,43,100 crore, of which proposals worth Rs.95,000 crore have taken off and the rest are under process, the chief minister told the media. Countdown begins to welcome BG engine at | AGARTALA, Jan 10 (TIWN): With the aim to run the BG engine to Agartala along with the aim to run goods loaded train on January 13 at the Agartala railway station preparation is on the peak. Workers are engaged in completing the conversion work as early as possible before 13 January as it is scheduled to run the BG engine on January 13. The work has gained momentum and the track laying work is almost completed and the trial run of the engine will be done on January 13. It is to be mentioned here that Manoj Sinha Minister of State for Railways, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Transport Minister Manik Dey to receive the BG engine along with the train coach on January 13 at Agartala Railway station. Keeping in mind to roll the engine on the newly converted BG track without any hurdles on January 13 the authority is carrying out the conversion work in fullswing. The rolling of the engine was successful till Dharmanagar and will be completed once it touches the soil of Agartala. Keeping in mind the roll of the engine upto Agartala January 13 the workers are engaged in completing the work of laying tracks and the other essential works at the Agartala Railway station. After the successful run of the engine upto Agartala, NFR is scheduled to run the ballast train upto Agartala railway station.
