So with the completion of the work of setting up the equipments and other necessary work the construction agency will begin their work.Besides, he also stated that the work was shut for some period of time as the department has changed the construction agency. HC ordered to file affidavit by 14th Mar | BELONIA, Jan 19 (TIWN) : HC ordered to file affidavit by 14th March to 3 CPM leaders who remanded to custody in contempt of court case. Recently three leaders of the ruling CPI-M in Tripura have been remanded to 14 days judicial custody in a case of contempt of court. Tapas Dutta, secretary of the partys Belonia sub division, Trilokesh Sinha and Babul Chandra Nath, secretariat members of sub-divisional committee of CPI-M, surrendered before the court of Belonia Chief Judicial Magistrate Asit Debnath after which they were remanded to judicial custody. District and Session Judge of Belonia, Ruhidas Paul had filed a case against them that they had allegedly humiliated him and also ransacked the court on September 2 last, the day of opposition-sponsored Bharat bandh. Later, Chief Justice of Tripura High Court Deepak Gupta had visited the place and registered a suo moto case of contempt of court. State facing 20 days of backlog in the s | AGARTALA, Jan 19 (TIWN): Although Bishalgarh gas bottling plant gets refilled 24 trucks of LPG cylinders per day against its installed capacity of 18 bullets, still it fails to meet the need of the people of the State. Talking to TIWN Correspondent, official of Food Department on Monday said that altogether 24 trucks of LPG Cylinders get refilled every day against its installed capacity of 18 bullets yet the state is facing around 20 days of backlog. Though the daily requirements are being fulfilled with the 24 refilled trucks of LPG cylinders, but the State is facing around 20 days of backlog. Besides, he also mentioned that to meet the requirement of the people daily two to three trucks of LPG Cylinders has been imported from Silchar on daily basis. However, to meet the need of the State’s public of 12 LPG cylinders in a year a boost is required which can be fulfilled after the establishment of the new gas bottling plant.Besides, IOC is planning to install an oil depot at Shekerkut. On the other hand, earlier the State Government has demanded to IOC to provide 24 wagons. On the other hand, despite of the introduction of the modified direct benefit transfer scheme for LPG, black marketers of domestic cooking gas cylinders making the availability of the LPG cylinder tough for the consumers of the State. With the beginning of the construction work of the fly-over work at Battala, the issue of traffic congestions came into public eye with the massive traffic jam from Bordowali-Battala road, disrupting the convenient movement of traffic on the road during office and school hours. Besides, the crane bought for the construction work of the flyover takes huge space on the road and creates problem in the smooth convenient. To ease the everyday traffic jam at Battala junction following the construction work of the fly-over, the traffic department has listed out three different routes which the civilian can use to avoid the daily traffic congestion. The 12 hours strike had a mixed impact: | KAMALPUR, Jan 18 (TIWN): The 12 hours strike in the three districts of the state namely North, Unakoti and Dhalai had a mixed impact today. The minimum numbers of picketers virtually failed to put restraint over the administrative works and vehicular movements in the three districts. However, common people found happily passing time in a holiday mood. The protest of CPI-M couldnot be claimed to attain a complete success in denying the strike. From the early morning vehicles under the banner of CITU started plying on the roads. But the numbers of passengers were very low. The officials reached their offices at the early morning, according to the instruction of the state government. Very few businessmen opened up their shops. However, the employees reached their offices. But the common people were present in few numbers. But the role of the police in front of the hurly-burly of the CPI-M party cadres remained unfair. The inactive role of the police created tension in front of the Kamalpur Court as the Congress and CPI-M picketers went face to face. However, SDPO immediately rushed to the spot and controlled the situation. Nothing untoward got reported so far. In the three districts almost thousands of picketers got arrested while picketing in favour of the strike. TPCC calls for 12-hour strike: around 20 | AGARTALA, Jan 18 (TIWN): Kailashahar police on Monday arrested around two hundred picketers and kept them in Kailashahar town hall which considered as temporary jail for strike purpose. Reportedly, two hundred picketers were arrested under the leadership of Kailashahar PCC President Badar-udh-Jaman, during the 12-hour long strike called by the Tripura Pradesh Congress committee on Monday. PCC members Rudrendu Bhattacharjee, Youth Congress Vice-President Nirmal Malakar, Former PCC Member Bikash Sharma and others were present. Responding to the 12-hour long strike all the shops were observed shut and no vehicles have been observed moving on the streets. It is to be mentioned here that the Committee is going to stage 12-hour long strike in three districts which include Unakoti, Dhalai and North District. The 12-hour long strike has been called in the three districts over 20 charters of demands for the betterment of the area. Reportedly, Government office which includes Kailashahar court and Municipal Council office remained open.However, the congress leaders stated that the strike is being called in demand to establish railway division at Dharmanagar, to extend the area of the Kailashahar Airport for the betterment of the people, to continue the service at the Kamalpur Airport, to establish new block at Fatikrai, to set up fire extinguisher at Chailengta. M. Jamatia and the High Court of Tripura. ASG Patwalia along with Senior Advocate JP Cama appeared for DM Jamatia, the Law Secretary of the State against whom the High Court has slapped criminal contempt. SG Ranjit Kumar appeared for the High Court.The matter has its origin in a note filed by Jamatia pertaining to reservation policy in the State. The note was a reason for initiation of contempt but the Court had subsequently dropped the same. However, another note was written by Jamatia to Chief Minsiter Manik Sarkar. Bangladesh force to set up new outposts | AGARTALA, Jan 18 (TIWN / IANS) Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) have agreed to beef up security and construct at least 10 new border outposts (BOPs) on the India-Bangladesh border to check militancy, crime and trafficking, a BSF official said on Monday. Officials of the Border Security Force (BSF) and BGB met for five days at the BSF's Tripura frontier headquarters at Shalbagan, 15 km north of here, and discussed matters related to the international border. The five-member BGB delegation was led by Colonel Sajjad Hossain while the BSF team comprised Deputy Inspector General of Panisagar sector D.K. Sharma and Teliamura Sector DIG Rajeev Sinha and senior officers. "The BGB officials informed us on the construction of new BOPs facing Tripura and Mizoram," BSF's Tripura frontier Deputy Inspector General and chief spokesman D.S. Bhati told IANS. He said the BGB will also further tighten security along Tripura and Mizoram frontiers. "The proposed BOPs in the mountainous Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) will help contain terrorism in the north-eastern states since most camps of Indian insurgent groups, including Tripura militants, are located in south-east Bangladesh's CHT," Bhati said."Both sides agreed to increase vigil along the border to foil attempt by militants and other anti-national elements to disrupt internal peace. Besides, emphasis was also given to curb trans-border smuggling," the BSF officer said. Talking to TIWN correspondent on Sunday, Immigration official Kajal Das said that the regular Volvo bus service has broken down over past few days and no initiative is being taken to improve the service in the state. The Volvo bus service may be offering comfort to passengers but it is struggling to cater passengers. Reportedly, TRTC is not getting adequate numbers of passengers for travelling to Kolkata via Dhaka and above all the withdrawn of the hand written passport is also another issue. After waiting for several months, the state government has finally catered its own Volvo bus to the land locked Tripura to provide its own volvo bus service from Agartala to Kolkata via Dhaka but there is no adequate number of passengers to travel through the bus.Despite all odds and with an aim to meet the demand of the land-locked Tripura and to contain the rise in airfares the bus service for Agartala-Kolkata via Dhaka has started its journey from Agartala. Talking to TIWN correspondent on Saturday Airport director said that at present the work is nearly stopped and there is no assurance when the work will take a lift in the state. He also said that arranging tender for engaging Project Management Consultants to carry out the Rs. 338 crore projects is underway but nothing can be said when the work will gain momentum. He also stressed on the issue that until the tender is clarified nothing can be done regarding the construction. It is worthy to mention here that the state government has already handed over required land for facelift work of the Agartala Airport. Transport Minister Manik Dey said that it can be expected that by next few months Airport expansion work will begin in full swing.The Airport expansion work may take a lift in next few months but there is no assurance to kick off the work in next few months. NEEPCO’s steam turbine generation | AGARTALA, Jan 16 (TIWN): Much after the gas turbine has started generating power in full swing; the steam turbine capable of generating 36 MW was also put on roll for generating power on a trial basis but was put on halt from Friday. Talking to TIWN correspondent, NEEPCO GM SR Biswas said that the steam turbine capable of generating 36 MW was rolled on for generation on trial basis and the trial run was successful. Adding to that NEEPCO GM SR Biswas further said that although the trial run of generating power from the steam turbine was successful but is being now put on halt for routine check up. He also said that the gas turbine is continuing generation in full swing and the steam turbine will blow its generation within next 12 days. With the aim to conduct the routine check up, the steam turbine which is capable of generating 36MW is being put on halt to conduct the routing check up.Routine check up is necessary to monitor the technicalities of the gas turbine for conducting generation in full load, added Biswas. In fact, the gas turbine began generating power in full load after ONGC has pumped in .5 MMSCMD gas to Monarchak. The NEEPCO authority said that they took calculated risk and began running the Steam Turbine with full load producing 36.42 MW power during the trial run. Biswas further added that state government had inked a power purchase agreement with the NEEPCO to buy entire power; Power Minister Manik Dey is reluctant to do the same because of high costing of power.The power generated from gas turbine is fully absorbed by TSECL and it is not sold outside the state, added Biswas. | 16-Jan-2016 |

Keeping up its commitment, the Modi-govt is making quick progress in strengthening economic and friendship ties with Bangladesh, popping up new opportunities for the North-East region, especially Tripura. It is to be mentioned here that, India has already inked an agreement to supply 100 MW of electricity to Bangladesh from the gas-based Palatana power plant from Tripura at ₹5.50 a unit more or less identical to the weighted average generation tariff of 6.50 in Bangladesh. India currently supplies 500 MW to Dhaka through the West Bengal border. With the aim to dig out a cordial solution regarding the power tariff for the transmission of 100MW power to Bangladesh, a high level meeting between the representatives of India and Bangladesh was held at Bangladesh where it was decided to supply power to Bangladesh from Tripura.Talking to TIWN correspondent on Friday, Power Minister Manik Dey said stage is all set to kick off the power transmission to Bangladesh and is only awaiting nod for the inauguration. Establishment of new Bottling Plant like | AGARTALA, Jan 16 (TIWN): Establishment of the new Gas Bottling Plant at Bodhjungnagar Industrial Estate in Jirania subdivision can bring some relief in the state regarding the rising crisis of the LPG cooking gas cylinders. Until and unless the new Gas Bottling Plant is established in the state it will be very hard to end the rising crisis of the LPG cooking gas cylinder in the state. Reportedly, Indian Oil Corporation is going to establish a mega gas bottling plant at Bodhjungnagar Industrial Estate in Jirania subdivision. However, according to the plan, the IOC wants to establish the Mega Gas Bottling Plant by next two years. If the plant is operational, it will produce 200 trucks LPG per day. It seems like with the establishment of the Bottling Plant at Bodhjungnagar, the prolonged problem faced by the common mass may come to an end. However, once the new gas bottling plant is operational, it will be able to supply refilled LPG cylinder to outside the state also, said sources.Although Bishalgarh Gas Bottling Plant where 20/22 trucks LPG cylinders per day gets refilled against its installed capacity of 18 bullets, still it fails to meet the need of the people.
