Talking to TIWN correspondent on Saturday, Power Minister Manik Dey from Bangladesh said that the meeting is underway at Bangladesh and discussions are going on regarding the power tariff. He also said that he has reached to Bangladesh ON the previous day and is representing the meeting at Bangladesh on Saturday with others including Principal Secretary SK Rakesh, Chairman cum Managing Director SK Roy and others.It is to be mentioned here that Dey is at Dhaka at the invitation of Bangladesh Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Md Ali. Minister Dey also said that meeting has tabled discussion on 100 MW power to Bangladesh and mainly to dig out a solution to the much awaited power tariff regarding the power transmission to Bangladesh.He further said that the meeting has already begun from the morning, however, nothing is decided so far and vital discussions are underway. Due to deplorable condition of the road and traffic congestion where the common mass of the state faces hue and cry, so called claimed poor CM of Tripura take chopper ride to avoid the congestion.It is to be mentioned here that the Left rule Government keeps on blaming that the Central has deducted the fund for the state and therefore the Government lacks in the developmental work. TSECL under pressure to clear the pendin | AGARTALA, Jan 8 (TIWN): OTPC has set the deadline by January 7 to TSECL to clear all the pending bills of about 100 crore to the plants. After the OTPC authority has issued a letter to TSECL to clear the pending bill of about 100 crores to OTPC, although TSECL has shown keen interest to clear the bill but time will say will TSECL be able to clear the bills to the plant.It is to be mentioned here that OTPC has recently served a letter to TSECL after OTPC has failed to get any positive feedback regarding the clearance of pending dues to OTPC.As per the letter issued to TSECL by OTPC, the TSECL is supposed to pay about Rs 100 crore to the OTPC to continue receiving power from Palatana.However, in the letter the OTPC authority has urged to TSECL to clear all dues by January 7 or else its 27 percent allotment of the total 96% allotment from Palatana power plant would be withdrawn.As per the letter, if the pending bill is not cleared within the given time, OTPC will deduct it’s at least 25MW of Tripura’s share from Palatana power plant.TSECL is supposed to provide money to some power generation companies for supplying power to its customers. | 08-Jan-2016 |

Monarchak power generation from steam tu | AGARTALA, Jan 7 (TIWN): Monarchak power plant requires one more month to operate its steam turbine for generating 101MW of power, as said by NEEPCO GM S.R. Biswas. Talking to TIWN correspondent, NEEPCO GM SR Biswas said that Monarchak will be able to generate 101 MW of power after a month or two as it will require time to operate its steam turbine. Adding to it he also said that the gas turbine is generating power in full swing. However, the steam turbine requires a time of one month as it's a hectic process. He also said that the gas turbine is now producing 65 MW on a regular basis and within next ten days the steam turbine capable of generating 36 MW will be able to generate power in full swing. However, at first NEEPCO has switched on to the gas turbine worth generating 65 MW on a regular basis and the processing for operating the steam turbine (36MW) will require time. It is to be mentioned here that once Monarchak begins power generation in full load, the entire 101 MW would be given to Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) which would further resolve the electricity crisis of the North East region at a large extent, said Biswas. The power generated from gas turbine is fully absorbed by TSECL and it is not sold outside the state, added Biswas. NEEPCO GM S.R.Biswas further clarified that there is no problem in gas supply and ONGC is continuously supplying gas to Monarchak. 'If ONGC continues its gas supply, Monarchak will be able to take full load and there will be no dearth of electricity in the state'. | 07-Jan-2016 |

It is witnessed that the agency has now geared with up with the load testing work at the spot.Heavy equipments and machineries are piled up at the spot to carry out the load test at Melarmath before beginning with the pillaring work. The pilling work for the construction of fly over at Melarmath has begun in full swing. Although the construction work is underway at several spots but however, the agency has now also begun with the work at Melarmath. It is to be mentioned here that one part of the flyover will end at Melarmath and the other will end at Firebrigade chowmuhani. The suddenly gained progress in the work culture shows that the agency is now worried to finish the work in the given deadline. After the successful report of the soil test and load test at Battala, cement casting for the pillar is going in full swing at Melarmath. With the aim to meet the deadline for completing the fly over construction work is in speedy way. Modi's 'Look East' Policy in action : Un | AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, Jan 7 (TIWN): Immediately after the inauguration of Tripura's LCS at Srimantapur by Union Minister of State for Commerce Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesda, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Union cabinet on Wednesday gave an ex-post-facto approval to a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between India and Bangladesh for setting up 'Border Haats', an official statement said.The Border Haats aim at establishing a traditional system of marketing local produce thorough local markets in local currency or barter basis, thereby promoting the well-being of the people dwelling in remote areas across the boundary of the two countries. An agreement was reached in 2010 to establish Border Haats at selected areas, including on the Meghalaya border, to allow trade in specified products and in accordance with the regulations agreed and notified by both governments.To implement the same, an MoU and the mode of operation of Border Haats was signed on October 23, 2010. Subsequently, an addendum to the mode of operation was signed on May 15, 2012.Border Haats are already operational at Kalaichar and Balat (Meghalaya-Bangladesh border), and Kamlasagar and Srinagar (Tripura-Bangladesh border).Inaugurating the LCS at Srimantapur, Union Commerce Minister said that Tripura will be the gateway to South-east Asia in near future. | 06-Jan-2016 |
