AGARTALA, Jan 10 (TIWN): Ministry of sports, Government of Tripura has finally abided to the demand of the Indian Association of Physiotherapist (IAP) and Physiotherapist Forum of Tripura (PFT) to recruit physiotherapist in various sport department for the first time.

Addressing a press meets at Melarmath the members of the Indian Association of Physiotherapist (IAP) and Physiotherapist Forum of Tripura on Sunday said that Ministry of sports, Government of Tripura has accepted their demand to recruit physiotherapist in sport departments from the current session in Tripura.

The members further discussed in the meet that the new recruitments of the physiotherapist to the sports department should be selected through written examinations instead of walk in interviews. They also said that they have also requested to recruit the physios through PHC level.

Apart on the upcoming March 6, 2016 IAP Tripura Branch is going to organise a “All India Physio Registration Examination in Tripura Institute of Paramedical sciences

Indian Association Physiotherapist is a registered body in India, with over 30,000 physiotherapists as member of this body. The body is controlled by the board of elected office bearers, which included President, Secretary, Treasurer and various conveyors to monitor various activities of the IAP.

It is to be mentioned here that World Health Organization (WHO) has already declare that the physiotherapy profession and Ayurveda are two most advanced medical system for curing the non-communicable diseases in recent era of Health care system.

After long 10-12 years government of Tripura has declared the post of physiotherapist in Tripura health service and it is a major milestone in the history of IAP, said IAP secretary Dr. Sabhyasachi Chowdhury.

IAP members said that qualification criteria for the job is class XII in any stream which is to be class XII in science only, Professional qualification should be only Degree not diploma, Grade should be Group-B Gazette like Government of Nagaland, Gujrat, Delhi, NCR, Tamil Nadu etc and the pay scale should be as per the norms of the Group-B gazette rank as per the modification of recruitment rule (RR) of the health and family welfare.
