Union Minister of State (IC) for Environment visit to the state cancelled

AGARTALA, Jan 10 (TIWN): The Union Minister of State (IC) for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar who was scheduled to arrive in Tripura on Sunday was cancelled due to some sudden engagements in programs.

Union Minister of State (IC) for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar was supposed to arrive in a three-day visit to the North-East states including Tripura from Sunday.

However, due to some sudden engagements in work he visit to the state is cancelled.

Mr Javadekar was scheduled to interact with officials in the state apart from meeting people from local communities and farmers practicing shifting cultivation.

Union Minister   Prakash Javadekar was also scheduled to make a visit to Tripura Forest Development Corporation and hold discussion with rubber growers, local artisans producing rubber products at TFDC and forest officials.

His visit to Siphalijala Sanctuary and meeting with the forest officials, farmers and people from local communities is postponed until his next visit to the state.

Prakash Javadekar is and Indian Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) politician and is the incumbent Union Minister of State for Environment, Forests and Climate Change. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha as a Member of Parliament from Maharashtra in 2008, and re-elected from Madhya Pradesh in 2014.

Following the victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2014 Indian General Election, he was appointed Minister State (Independent Charge) for Environment, Forests and Climate Change by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He is also a Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, and briefly held the portfolio of Information and Broadcasting.
