Congress burns Amit Shah’s effigy on Rs 745 crore’s Demonetization scandal allegations
AGARTALA, June 23 (TIWN): Tripura Congress led by Yuva Congress, NSUI have burnt BJP National President Amit Shah’s effigy here in Agartala ahead of Shah’s arrival in Tripura alleging about pre-demonetization and post-demonetization scandals led by Amit Shah and his close-mates. A protest rally was kicked off from Congress Bhawan on Saturday evening, raising slogans against Amit Shah led alleged scandal followed by an effigy burning demonstration staged at Surya Chowmuhani. The National Congress on Friday called for a thorough investigation into post-demonetization deposits following revelations that a cooperative bank associated with BJP chief Amit Shah received Rs 745 crore in scrapped notes before these banks were barred from accepting them. Tripura Congress activists, as a part of national level protests have staged the demonstration demanding investigation in the scandal to find out the transactions histories. The Congress released the list of banks linked to BJP leaders that got the deposits, according to the May 7 RTI reply to queries filed by Manoranjan S. Roy, a Mumbai-based information activist.
