Bimal Singha International Drama Festival 2016 : an Indo Bangla cultural exchange

KAMALPUR, Jan 11 (TIWN): Mohajoner Nao, an acclaimed musical play by Subachan Natya Sangsad of Dhaka, has been invited for stage shows in Kamalpur Townhall and in Agartala. Subachan Natya Sangsad will also stage their 2nd show at Agartala also on 11th January. DURBAR NATHYA GOSTI is organizing both in Kamalpur and also in Agartala in memory of Late Bimal Sinha.

Drama was Written by Shakoor Majid and directed by Sudip Chakroborthy, Mohajoner Nao is a sort of sketch of baul singer Abdul Karim’s biography and philosophy. The play brings on stage Abdul Karim’s philosophy, where individual life is seen as a boat (nao) given by the creator (mohajon) as a loan, which must be returned at the end.

Through songs mainly, the play visualizes this philosophy by portraying the life of Abdul Karim. Gias Uddin Ahmed, Mohammad Ansar Ali, Amirul Islam, ASM Asadul Islam, Sonia Hassan, Tanvir Ahmed Bhuyan, Shah Salauddin, Md Imran Hossain, Md Sohel Khan, Muhammad Fazlul Huq and Imtiaj Shawon Reza are the actors in the production. Mohajoner Nao is quite a popular musical play at home too with more than 75 shows, including shows in India and South Korea, to its credit. A thirteen-member team, including the playwright and the director were honored by MP Jiten Choudhury who was present in the program along with many dignitaries.
