Kalyanpur: Forest Dept. recovered a Civet Cat

KALYANPUR, Jan 11 (TIWN): A sudden arrival of a Civet Cat had created mass gathering at Kalyanpur market area on Monday.

According to the sources, this civet cat had suddenly came out among the public from the forest nearby.

However, mass gathering was followed to see this animal at there.

The incident occurred at Kalyanpur market at around 11 am. All the people who were present in the market during that time, gathered to see it.

Reportedly, it took shelter at a shop. The shop-owner’s name has been identified as Goutam Pal.

However, getting informed the officials from Forest Dept. rushed to that spot. Then they caught it & took that animal along with them.

According to them, that animal was slightly ill.

It’s to be mentioned here that a civet  is a small, lithe-bodied, mostly nocturnal  mammal native to tropical Asia and Africa, especially the tropical forests.

The term civet applies to over a dozen different mammal species. Most of the species diversity is found in southeast Asia.

The best-known civet species is the African Civet, which historically has been the main species from which was obtained a musky scentused in perfumery.

The word civet may also refer to the distinctive musky scent produced by the animals.
