AGARTALA, Jan 11 (TIWN): Major part of the State, along with capital, is likely to experience dense fog for another few days, as stated by local met department.
Though the intensity of cold is on the wane since the last week of December, local meteorological department recorded a lowest temperature of 7.5 degree Celsius so far.
The local officials of the Meteorological department said that, “In next 24 hours, the forecast is that fog density will be high. However, on the coming day’s fog density will be low with improvement in visibility.”
Flight services at Agartala Airport were affected due to heavy smog. Some flights reached late at the airport due to poor visibility.
The dense smog also caused road accidents at different parts of the State. Numbers of passengers were injured in a head-on collision in different areas.
Commuters are facing difficulties due to the heavy fog. Meanwhile, several flights were also delayed.
Apart from this rainfall was also reported from different part of the state.
However, he also said that there is no chance of rainfall in the state in the coming days but the minimum temperature will further fall.
Tripura had recorded its lowest temperature in winter at 2° C in 1972.
Mostly during the winter season, life observed crippled across the state because of the chill and attendance seem to get poor in most schools and government offices. The streets wore a deserted look and business establishments were closed.
Generally, in Tripura winter starts from November. This year it has started from the month of December.
Weathermen however said the chill in the wind can't yet be felt as the maximum temperatures have stayed high. The forecast predict that in the next 24 hours the minimum temperatures would hover around 7 degree Celsius.
The met department has predicted similar weather conditions for Tuesday with morning fog giving way to a clear sky later in the day.
