KAILASHAHAR, Jan 13 (TIWN): Demanding to provide notice of land acquisition for border fencing, residents of Shilpara under Kailashahar Sub-Division on Tuesday stopped the construction work of the 485 metre of border fencing in the area.

Reportedly, the locals stated that till the administration of the sub-division does not provide the resident the notice of land acquisition till day the residents will not allow to do the work.

The agitated locals alleged that for the past one year they have been demanding for the notice of land acquisition to the administration.

They complained that the land which has been taken for the border fencing from the locals till day no notice of the compensation has been released from the administration. Therefore, they do not have any prove that they have given the land to the state government for fencing work.

However, the agitated locals now demanded that if no initiatives have been taken to provide the notice for the land acquisition than they will not allow the construction agency to continue with the border fencing work.

On the other hand, the construction agency NBCC stated that they can complete the construction work within one month but as the residents are not allowing to continue with the work it is getting delay.

It has been mentioned that other than 485 metre of border area, fencing in all the other area of Kailashahar has been completed.

However, despite of strict vigilance in the border areas miscreants cut the fence and manage to smuggle cows, contraband items.

As it has not become possible to provide fencing in all side of the border, kidnapping and thefts, smuggling of cattle, human trafficking, fake currency are quite rampant along the border as there is lack of proper security arrangements in some parts of the bordering areas.

However, despite of strict vigilance in the border areas which includes both the fencing and non-fence areas the smuggling of illegal items goes rampant in various areas of the State.
