Uncertainty looms over the issue of fill | AGARTALA, Jan 22 (TIWN): Although the state government during Assembly-2016 had claimed that they will file case in Supreme Court against the triple murder accused Sushil Chowdhury but so far there is no development in the case. It is to be mentioned here that in a question raised by the opposition MLA Asish Kumar Saha, during the winter session of Tripura assembly, Home minister Manik Sarkar replied that the state government is willing to move the case to the Supreme Court but even after passage of couple of days no progress in seen in the matter. With allegations raised by the opposition regarding the misappropriation of judgement against the murder case, MLA Asish Saha raised the issue and under the pressure of the opposition the state government had decided to forward the case in Supreme Court. With zero updates in the case, it appears that might be it was said for the namesake that the case will be tabled before the Supreme Court. However, time will speak when the state government will file case against Sushil Chowdhury in SC. In every programmes where the ruling Government claims about the State’s development in faster rate, negligence hits the century old crafted sculptures of Unakoti. Therefore, the historical crafted sculptures of Unakoti are gradually losing their glory. Tourists including foreigners where seem enthusiastic to visit the century old archaeological site ‘Unakoti’, the lackluster attitude of the State Government left the place in a poor condition. Every year more than thousands of tourists visit the area just to have a glance of the beauty of the century old sculpture. Most of the time people conduct picnic but the State Government has failed to preserve the beauty of the historical crafted sculptures of Unakoti. The condition of the stairs of Unakoti are in very poor shape and as a result several times tourists slipped from the stairs. Most of the stairways are so slippery that during rainy season, people had to sit and step-down carefully to avoid fatal accidents. With the renovation of the area and the sculpture, not only the tourists would get the chance to enjoy the beauty but also the State would have earned revenue from every visits. Feb'16 set as deadline for Indo-Bangla p | AGARTALA, Jan 21 (TIWN): The stage is all set to mark the inaugural ceremony of Indo-Bangla power transmission by February. Talking to TIWN correspondent on Wednesday Power Minister Manik Dey said that tariff is decided, required testing and experiments all are done and now the transmission just awaits formal inauguration. He also said that Tripura is now power surplus state and to boost the economy of the state, the government has decided to transmit the excess power to the neighbouring countries in exchange of cost per unit.It is to be mentioned here that, India has already inked an agreement to supply 100 MW of electricity to Bangladesh from the gas-based palatana power plant from Tripura at ₹5.50 a unit more or less identical to the weighted average generation tariff of 6.50 in Bangladesh. Terminated Teacher Case: Next hearing on | AGARTALA, Jan 21 (TIWN): Uncertainty looms over the fate of 10, 323 teachers, the much awaited teachers jobs termination case further postponed to February 29. Talking to TIWN correspondent, Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty on Wednesday said that the case is most probably to be produced before the court on February 29. Hoping to win the case, Minister Chakraborty said that with this case many of the people job and livelihood is connected. If the State win the case than the job of the 10, 323 teachers will be safe. He also mentioned that we are hoping that the recruited teachers will not have to depart from their job. Earlier talking to TIWN correspondent he also mentioned that notice have to be sent to all the party which includes- Teacher, Opposition and the Government. However, after prolonged several months also the case has not been solved yet. Every time the case has been produced before the court, it gets delayed every time. He further said that at present the condition is quite good and there is no major fault in the road. The much awaited project of internet bandwidth service will begin its functioning officially once the inaugural ceremony is observed. Tripura is all set to get faster internet connection as the inauguration of the Internet Bandwidth is just a few days’ away, said BSNL DGM U.C. Bhowmik. Talking to TIWN correspondent on Wednesday, BSNL DGM U.C. Bhowmik said that on part of BSNL the work is completed and the service can only kick start once it is formally inaugurated. Reluctant to comment anything on the inauguration date, he said that noting is confirmed yet but the inaugural ceremony will be marked in the month of February. He further said that necessary testing and security checking on the new system are in the process from both the side of Bangladesh as well as India. However, question arises if the work is completed why the inaugural process is being delayed. Despite of the completion of laying the optical fibre from both the end why there is delay in starting the service, question arises. DGM (CFA) U.C. Bhowmik assured that the optical fibre laying work is likely to get completed by January 2016 and accordingly the service will also be developed. He further said that as the government will not house any assembly six weeks so the state government is willing to publish the report in front of the high court. The report of the Yusuf commission was not made public by the state government yet today even after the passage of 15 years from the day the commission had submitted the report before the state home department. Bimal Sinha and his younger brother Bidyut Sinha were gunned down by the militants of the outlawed National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) on March 31, 1998.The High Court has directed Tripura government to table the report of the Commission of Enquiry headed by Justice M Yusuf to enquire over the circumstance leading to the killing of the then health minister Bimal Sinha in 1998 by a group of NLFT militants. Petrol crisis looms large in Tripura : m | AGARTALA, Jan 19 (TIWN): Almost all the petrol pumps of Agartala city along with the petrol pumps at Santir Bazaar, Sabroom and Belonia were found hanging ‘No Petrol’ board since last three days and most effectively on Tuesday morning. Long queue was witnessed in front of the petrol pumps in the several petrol pumps of the state.Long queue of people were found waiting with their motorcycles in front of the petrol pump in the vicinity of Agartala. Meanwhile, petrol crisis has hit the state capital and sub divisional headquarters. Motor cycle users of the city have been facing an unprecedented crisis following the unavailability of fuel in most of the petrol pumps, catering to the requirement of motorists of the city and its surrounding areas. Speaking to TIWN, a motorcyclist said he has been waiting in front of a petrol pump in the city for more than two hours.Outside in the black market petrol was available at Rs. 130 to 150 per liter but that is also adulterated with kerosene. Most of the filling stations have put the board of no petrol but actually there is oil.
