Tirthamukh fair: Stalls for the fair distributed, preparation underway in full swing

AGARTALA, Jan 13 (TIWN): Stage is all set to organize the Tirthamukh fair which has been scheduled to begin on January 14.

The fair is expected to continue for two days. Preparation are going on in full fledge with setting up the stalls and decorating the premises.

Reportedly, distribution of the plot for the stalls in the fair has been conducted on Tuesday at the premises of Tirthamukh.

According to the sources reports this year the fair committee has organized the programme with an estimated budget of around Rs. 14 lakh.

Reportedly, Tribal Welfare Minister Aghore Debbarma to inaugurate the programme on Thursday in the presence of Chief Executive Member of ADC Radhacharan Debbarma, Tribal Welfare Minister Manindra Reang, Sabadhipati of Gomati District Suniti Saha, District Magistrate of Gomati Sonal Goyel, MLA Priyamani Debbarma, Jashabir Triura and others.

Like every year this year also the Dumbur Tirthamukh Lake is all set to attract the bee storming gathering of the devotees. Previous year a huge number of devotees from all over the state gathered in the area to celebrate the programme. 

To ensure peaceful celebration at the fair, security personnel were deployed at the premises. Besides, in order to make the fair of the year 2016 successful, a preparatory committee has been formed under the chairmanship of MLA Priyamani Debbarma.

Since ancient days Tirthamukh had been a holy place of the Hindu Tripuri tribals. On the specific day people flock to the place to shave their head in the name of their ancestors or worship deities and perform individual sacrifices and ritual to propitiating the souls of departed ancestors.

The two-day long programme is being organized by District Administration, Information and Cultural Affair Department and Tripura Tribal Welfare.

On the day of Poush Sankranti this place becomes a confluence of thousands of people. Since ancient days Tirthamukh has been a holy place of the Hindu Tripuri tribals. This place is considered as the sacred Ganga to the people of Tripura.
