UDAIPUR, Jan 11 (TIWN): Despite of taking several initiatives to make the state self sufficient over agriculture, most of the small and big markets of the state are yet dependent on the vegetables supplied from outside the state.

Reportedly, though several initiatives are being taken to make the farmers self sufficient yet many farmers re hit with poverty.

It is worthy to mention that the State government is taking several initiatives like distribution of agricultural goods to the beneficiary farmers on Sunday yet a section of farmers are hit with poverty.

During the programme, Public Works Minister Ratan Bhowmik, Additional Sabasipati of Gomati District Dinabandhu Das, Chairperson of Kakrabon Panchayat Samiti Suniti Roy and others were present.

The State Government where claims to implement several projects to eliminate poverty from the state, the parents or the family members of different interior parts including the capital strained with poverty sell their children or leave their offspring to any of the orphanages.

Interestingly, despite several initiatives taken to eliminate poverty from the state, mother’s strained with poverty having no other option sell their children.

Even, there are some parents who give away their children without any kind of demands but with a hope that the future of the children will be poverty free. There are some parents who think that the earning is not enough to take care of the child.

However, altogether 352 suicide cases have been registered from August 1, 2014 to January 2015, according to the official report.

Detailing about the report, it has been mentioned that 81 are unemployed, 119 are labours. Whereas 3 are farmers, 35 are minor and 116 others.

Therefore, now the question arises that if in 6-month the number of suicide is 352 than what will be the rate in one year.

Earlier also Tripura had topped in the list of suicide in North East.

However, though the State Government claims that the State is developing day by day, yet a section of common mass are hit with the poverty but the State Government is least bothered about the situation.
