Winter Session of Tripura Assembly: Manik clamours about development, a section of people are yet deprived of electricity connection

AGARTALA, Jan 12 (TIWN): Ministerial Authority where claims Tripura to be a power surplus state, a section of people in the interior parts of the state are yet deprived of electricity connection. At the winter session Tripura Assembly, yet on Monday question arises that how many houses are left to get electricity connection. State Government where set to supply 100MW power to Bangladesh, a section of people in various interior parts of the state are yet to get electricity connection. The ground reality says that even today many of the families are yet suffering due to no electricity connection in the various interior parts of the state. The Centre in consultation with the Tripura government had decided to sell 100MW power after the Bangladesh government allowed free transhipment of heavy turbines for the 726.6MW Palatana thermal power plant. The total expense for construction of transmission lines and towers is of Rs 250 crores, of which Rs. 83 crores is for construction in Tripura. Reportedly, The 100 MW power will be dispatched to Bangladesh from Suryamaninagar power sub-station at the outskirts of Agartala and for transmission of 100 MW power, the works on transmission lines is completed on 400 KV double circuit transmission lines. About 143 towers are set up for 47 kilometre long transmission lines up to South Comilla of Bangladesh. About Rs. 250 crores is utilized to complete the transmission lines.

On the other hand, several families are yet working with kerosene lamp.

The era when people uses smart phones for better connection and facilities and e-governance has become viral, a section of people in Tripura are yet hoping for getting electricity connection.

Chief Minister Manik Sarkar where claims that Tripura is developing faster than any other state, in really people are suffering from poor health service, lack of electricity connection, deplorable condition of roads and many others.

However, the State Government also fails to shape up the fate of Rs. Rs. 60 crore (till November 2015) of electricity bill of various Department.

It has been mentioned that despite of the Department has forwarded a detail copy of the pending bills to all the Government Department whose electricity bill crosses the limited line Rs. 1 lakh yet no response has been received.

All the Government Departments whose bill had crossed Rs. 1 lakh, the department has been sent the bill details. Besides, it has been mentioned that accept Public Sector Undertaking companies all the other Departments under State Government were sent the bill details.

However, where the state government fail to shape up the fate of Rs. 60 crores of electricity bills of different Government Department, on the other hand it claims that if any consumer fails to clear their electricity bill within six months tenure or else certified cases against consumers will be taken.

However, in the winter session of Tripura assembly question has been raised that more how many families are left to get electricity connection.
