To inspect the poor condition of the road Assam, Additional chief secretary rushed to karimganj. Along with Lowerpoa he also inspected the condition of the adjacent connecting roads.Winding up his inspection, returning to Guwahati he instructed for the immediate renovation of the road as early as possible. It is to be mentioned here that the renovation work will begin soon. Bus tyres hatchet by miscreants: Drivers | AGARTALA, Nov 12 (TIWN): Traffic came to halt on Thursday morning when the bus drivers and the owners of the bus hit the streets at Radhanagar for more than 2 hours, after the drivers of the buses found their buses in a damaged condition at the Radhanagar bus stand. Reportedly, on Thursday morning when the bus drivers went to Radhanagar bus stand to begin the bus service the drives all of a sudden noticed that that some miscreants has hatchet the tyres of 10 buses and damaged the bus. Bangladesh hands over ULFA's Anup Chetia | AGARTALA / NEW DELHI/ DHAKA, Nov 11 (TIWN): Golap Baruah alias Anup Chetia, the fugitive leader of the separatist United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), has been handed over by Bangladesh to India, a top Indian official said.Bangladesh Rifles handed over Chetia, the runaway general secretary of ULFA, to the Border Security Force (BSF) at Dawki in Meghalaya around 2 Wednesday morning, a senior official from India's Prime Minister's Office said. Chetia is being flown to New Delhi by the CBI.Dawki is a border trade centre between India and Bangladesh."He (Chetia) has been handed over to India following the request of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval," a PMO official told, requesting anonymity."The Central Bureau of Investigation will take custody of Chetia. 90:10 funding pattern to be maintained f | AGARTALA, Nov 11 ( TIWN / IANS) The NDA government has agreed to provide central funding for the core Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) to the northeastern states with the same ratio as earlier, an official said here.The chief ministers of the eight northeastern states ruled by the Congress, Left and regional parties, through a unanimous resolution, had earlier urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to maintain the special category status for their states.The funding pattern for the special category was in the ratio of 90:10, where 90 percent of the total expenditure was borne by the central government and 10 percent contributed by the state concerned.There are 11 states in India clubbed under the special status category - the eight northeastern states, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand."Union Minster of State for Finance Jayant Sinha said that the central government has mostly resolved to keep on with the 90 to 10 ratio funding pattern for 17 Core CSS and would follow the 80 to 20 ratio pattern for non-core CSS schemes for the northeastern states," an official of the North Eastern Council (NEC) told IANS."The funding pattern would be retained based on the recommendations of the Shivraj Singh Committee formed to study the funding pattern for the northeastern states." | 11-Nov-2015 |

Ballast train to enter state by November | AGARTALA, Nov 10 (TIWN): Days are not so far when a ballast train carrying stone chips is likely to arrive in the state by the end of the November. If everything falls in the right place the ballast train carrying stone chips will enter the state on the newly conversed BG tracks by the end of this month.Once the ballast train enters the state, there is possibility that the goods loaded train will reach the state before March 31st. However, it is to be mentioned here that 80 percent of BG track has been laid in the Badarpur-Agartala route and a successful trolley run is also conducted on the 109 km long Agartala-Kumarghat railway track which shows that the land-locked Tripura will be soon brought under the railway map of the country.At the end of the three day visit NFR GM HK Jaggi went to karimganj for inspection of the railway track. However, while moving on the way to Dharmanagar to karimganj, he also visited several places and inspected the progress of BG conversion work.He also stated the NFR team is all set to run a broad gauge engine from Badarpur to Agartala by the first week of the December this year. Prostitution racket: Court sent 34 accus | AGARTALA, Nov 9 (TIWN): Altogether 34, including 18 women and 16 men were sent for 5 days of Jail Custody by the Special Court on Monday early morning. According to the police report, after five days of interrogation the accused will be again produced before the court on November 13. Police sources further claimed that again on Monday they have conducted raid on the area. West Police on Sunday busted a prostitution racket arresting 34 accused and the owner of the restaurants from the Adviser Choumuhani. The drive has been lead by West Police SP Bijoy Nag, Additional SP of West Police Station Sarmishta Chakraborty along with other officials. The arrested accused are of 16 – 25 year of age, mostly. Doctor arrested for conducting illegal a | UDAIPUR, Nov 9 (TIWN): A Homeopathic doctor was arrested on Sunday from Udaipur Kakrabon- area under Gomati district for allegedly aborting the 7 months old foetus of a minor girl who was raped by a youth on the pretext of marriage. The girl was 7 months pregnant when her parents brought her to a Homeopathic doctor namely Ujjal Barauh. According to the law, when aborting the foetus of more than 12 weeks, the opinion of two doctors is mandatory, but Dr Baruah aborted the foetus alone allegedly carried out the abortion process, said Police official of Kakrabon police station. However, the girl is now undergoing treatment in hospital. Police claimed that she was raped her on the pretext of marriage and she became pregnant. The girl told the police that she was 15 years old.Reportedly, on Sunday morning the parents of the minor girl brought her to the homeopathic doctor for abortion.
