Seven members of Bangladesh team led by system engineer Pranab Roy and a representative of India led by Mrinal Kanti Chowdhury held the meeting to discuss about the technicalities required for the error-free power transmission. The meeting also expected to decide the tariff for power transmission on tentative role. Long Awaited Passenger train between Sil | GUWAHATI/AGARTALA, Nov 20 (TIWN): Union minister for Railways Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu will flag off the 55616 Silchar-Guwahati fast passenger on Saturday at 10.30am from Rail Bhavan, New Delhi, via video-conferencing. Union minister of state for railways Manoj Sinha and the Union minister for sports and youth affairs Sarbananda Sonowal will be present at Silchar railway station for the flagging-off ceremony.An NF Railway official told to TIWN today that the regular passenger train service would begin from Monday. The 55616 Silchar-Guwahati fast passenger will leave Silchar everyday at 5am and reach Guwahati at 5.15pm. Similarly, the 55615 Guwahati-Silchar train would leave Guwahati at 11.55pm everyday and reach Silchar at 1.10pm the next day. With the service commissioned, a passenger from Silchar will be able to travel to Guwahati in 12 hours. Online Ticket booking had already started from yesterday.The train services on the broad gauge have become possible after conversion of the meter gauge to broad gauge between Lumding and Silchar. Agartala Airport facelift work to begin | AGARTALA, Nov 19 (TIWN): Days are not so far when the facelift work of the Agartala Airport will kick off its work from February. The Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF) has given clearance to the plan of setting up new terminal building at Agartala Airport, sources in Transport Department confirmed. If everything falls in place, the facelift work for the Agartala Airport would start from February next year. It is worthy to be mentioned here that the state government has already handed over required land for facelift work of the Agartala Airport.The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has also invited tender for engaging Project Management Consultants for carrying out the Rs. 338 crore projects.In a recent communiqué, the Ministry of Civil Aviation clarified that 17 flights of Air India, 14 flights of IndiGo and 14 flights of SpiceJet are operating on weekly basis on Agartala-Kolkata sector and vice-versa.Agartala airport has flights connecting various Indian cities like Kolkata, Delhi and destinations in southern states. Some fliers from neighbouring Bangladesh also use this airport. Lumding-Silchar passenger train service | AGARTALA, Nov 18 (TIWN): Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha who is scheduled to arrive in the state on Nov 21 is also scheduled to flag off the passenger train service on the newly built BG track from Lumding to silchar on nov 21 itself, although there is no official confirmation yet. Just a few hours for the passenger train to start its journey between Silchar – Lumding. Railway is planning to start the service from November 21. This will pave the way of starting passenger trains between Silchar – Agartala without any hurdles. According to expert, until and unless train service commence between Silchar – Lumding, Tripura cannot make a place in railway map of the country. It is quintessential to start train service between Silchar – Lumding. It is to be mentioned here that On October 13, railway safety board have cleared the route is ready for passenger service.But as there were some minor drawbacks the process was delayed. Agartala Railway Station to get a faceli | AGARTALA, Nov 18 (TIWN): Along with the work progress of laying the BG railway track the Agartala Railway Station is all set to get facelift. Construction of platform work is going on in full-swing at Badarghat railway station. Days are not so far when Tripura will be connected with the map of Broad-gauge railway network system. The old platform has been broken and new platform are being constructed to accommodate the train.In a move to ease congestion and to accommodate more number of trains, a new platform is undergoing construction at Agartala railway station.To strengthen the traffic system, parking plot is scheduled to be constructed and one has to pay for parking vehicles at the entry of the station. To maintain safety and security of the platform the authorities is taken this decision.
