AGARTALA, Nov 11 (TIWN): Government telecom operator, BSNL's network failed from Sunday morning till late evening. Subscribers kept pressing their key pads but none of the numbers could get connected due to the server error. People were not able to neither receive nor make calls for the entire day.

BSNL Network service in Tripura has been deteriorated in past few days with the poor internet connectivity and congestion in telephone network in both BSNL and private operators. BSNL authority has blamed insufficient communication channels comparing to the users and poor tele-infrastructure in the state. However, the private operators claimed that the service is being affected due to BSNL only.

Officials in BSNL stated that Narendra Modi led central government has been continuing the efforts in favour of private players and BSNL in Northeast were dumped with low quality equipments and allocation of fund is also low despite BSNL is the backbone of telecom service in the region.

Ministry of Telecommunication has failed to supply the equipments to connect Tripura with submarine cable bandwidth of Bangladesh that leads to unnecessary delay in opening of third international internet gateway at Agartala via Akhaura of Bangladesh.

Internet users will have to wait at least for another six months to get a stable network with BSNL. Laying foundation stone of submarine cable at Agartala, Union Telecom Minister Ravishankar Prasad had promised to make Agartala an International Gateway of submarine cable by December. But it seems the promise falls flat even three months after the laying foundation stone, BSNL authority is yet to start the work in Indian side though Bangladesh part is ready to provide 10 GB bandwidth, officials stated.

The technical problems with BSNL network has been troubling its subscribers quite often. Many customers whose relatives were admitted to hospitals, or if someone had important office work, he could not make calls due to the error but his balance was always deducted.
