Udaipur Diwali festival begins amid tight security

UDAIPUR/ AGARTALA, Nov 11 (TIWN): Tourism Minister Ratan Bhowmik inaugurated the two day long Diwali Festival 2015 here at the Dhanyamanikya Mukta Mancha by lighting the lamp. Sharp at 6pm the Diwali Festival 2015 was inaugurated by the Minister. Around half lakh of people assembled at Mata Bari and Tripurasundari Temple . It is expected that around 5 lakh tourists and devotees will come to this fair in these two days.However security has been tighten up long before the puja & till now no information of unwanted event yet has been come. A total of Rs. 18.5 lakhs has been sanctioned for the age old celebration of Diwali festival of 2015 at Udaipur Tripureshari Mandir, said Sub-Divisional Magistrate Subashish Banarjee to TIWN. Talking to TIWN correspondents, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Subashish Banarjee also said that altogether 22 CCTV cameras were installed at the various major areas of the temple and its premises. However, earlier talking to SDM he said, last year the budget was less than 10 lakhs, whether this year it has become double.

Apart from these a massive search operation had initiated across the area on Saturday in all public places, motor-vehicles, hotels, restaurants, busy market places with bomb and dog squads.To ensure safe and secure celebration of Diwali festival, a total of 10 watch towers will be set up and one Police assistance booth will also be installed to avoid any kind of untoward incidence. 

The temple and fair complex are flooded with sadhus, women, men, children and youths. Adequate security arrangements have been taken for the safety and security of the people who come here. Around 2000 police personnel along with 500 volunteers from NCC, NSS, Red Cross, Disaster Management and around 150 plain cloth police have been deployed at different sectors. The police personnel are stationed and divided in 17 different divisions.

The entire Temple Complex and Fair Complex are being monitored not only through CCTV cameras, but two control rooms  have been opened to assist the tourists and devotees.
