23 JE cases identified till Nov 5, four deaths

AGARTALA, Nov 12 (TIWN): A total of 30 positive cases of Dengue have been identified till November 5 in the current year, according official report.

Reportedly, among them 12 Dengue patients was affected outside the State. However, among the 30 dengue affected patients 17 are from West District, 3 from Sepahijala District, 2 from Khowai, two from Gomati District, Two from South District, two from Dhalai District, one from Unakoti District and one from North District.

In a survey carried out by the Health Department the Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes, main carrier of the deadly disease were found in some areas- Ramnagar, Lefunga, Bardowali, Dhaleshwar, Pratapgarh, AD Nagar, Radhanagar, Sankar Chowmuhani, Indranagar, Krishnanagar, Pandapur, Anandanagar, Salbagan and Barjala.

Besides, dengue carrier mosquitoes also found in areas like Telkajla (Melagarh), Chandanpur (Sonamura), Shobapur, Howaibari (Teliamura), Champahower (Khowai), Jatanbari (Karbook), Bagma (Udaipur), Sabroom, Belonia, Gandacherra, Kanchanpur and Dharmanagar.

However, with the completion of the survey, the health department forwarded the report to the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) for taking all precautionary measures.

Besides, larva eradicating spray has been initiated in the concern areas from November 2.

On the other hand, among 23 JE patients, four deaths have been registered till November 5. Whereas, according to the last year report, altogether 46, 163 people were affected with JE and 94 deaths have been registered.

Altogether 26,288 malaria positive cases were reported till September and total deaths stood at only 19.

In the last year, total malaria cases were 46,163 and a total of 96 malaria patients died.

However, it has been decided to distribute around 6 lakh medicated mosquito nets among the people residing in malaria prone areas.
