MCI team to visit AGMC & GBP, renovation | AGARTALA, Nov 5 (TIWN): All of a sudden major renovation works are being done on war footing at GBP Hospital and Agartala Government Medical College. Not only special attention are taken to provide better medical facilities in the hospital, besides initiatives are taken to give facelift to the hospital. Seeing the work patients and relatives of patients are surprised. All works like painting the entire hospital, cleaning garbages are carried out day and night. Why all sudden the works are done on war footing? When being asked the principal of the medical college Prof. K.K Kundu, he said that at any day Medical Council of India (MCI) can visit the college and the hospital. When they are coming the date is not mentioned in advance. The facelift work is carried out assuming that the team may come within next couple of days. According to college sources the MCI team which arrived on June found some draw backs. Among the draw backs shortage of faculty members was the most prominent. During that the college authority some how managed to covered up the issue. BG Conversion: work stalled at different | AGARTALA, Nov 4 (TIWN): Although the work has progressed in faster speed at Agartala- Kumarghat railway track but the work progress is stalled at different spots of Agartala-Karimganj railway track due to several problems. It is to be mentioned here that the trial run for the trolley on the 109km of Agartala – Kumarghat Broad gauge (BG) railway track has kicked off successfully at the Agartala railway station in presence of NFR officials but similarly the work progress might get delayed at the Agartala-Karimganj railway station.It is to be mentioned here that several problems on the Agartala-Karimganj railway station at several spots including at Pecharthal, Panisagar, Dharmanagar, and other spots.Due to lack of grip of the sand it is becoming problematic to lay the track at Pecharthal and Panisagar and Dharmanagar. Trial run of Kolkata-Agartala road cargo | AGARTALA, Nov 3 (TIWN): A trial run of cargo transport between Kolkata and Agartala through Dhaka, reducing the distance by nearly two-thirds, reached Aukhaura check post on Tuesday successfully. The trial run was flagged off on Sunday from the West Bengal state secretariat Nabanna in neighbouring Howrah district as a part of the Bangladesh-Bhutan-India-Nepal (BBIN) Motor Vehicle Agreement. DHL Global Forwarding bearing number WB- 1189519 carrying a consignment of electronics goods from Kolkata to Agartala through Dhaka reached Tripura Aukhaura check post on Tuesday afternoon sharp at 1 Am. However, a part of the cargo goods was also unloaded in Dhaka.Abhijjet Gaen, the driver of the vehicle also stated that he has successfully driven the vehicle from Kolkata with the goods and reached Dhaka on Monday. After unloading the consignment at Dhaka he again drove to Aukhura Check post with the remaining goods. Reportedly, once again the National Highway has turned muddy and unfit for movement of vehicles during light rainfall here last night. According to local sources, a large number of vehicles including good laden lorries were stranded due to the miserable condition of 20-km national highway from Lowerpoa of Assam to Churaibari Gate. 9 members team of RMSA workers meet CM, | AGARTALA, Nov 2 (TIWN): Demanding the withdrawal of the termination of the 156 RMSA workers, a 9 member’s representative team of RMSA workers meet Chief Minister Manik Sarkar at his residence on Monday at 8 AM in the morning. The 9 member’s team of the RMSA workers demanded the withdrawal of their termination and demanded justice to their job. However, talking to the representative team, Chief Minister Manik sarkar said that the state does not have any hold on the termination of the 156 RMSA workers, as the central has stopped the fund supply, and thus the RMSA workers were terminated. Instead of giving proper justification for their termination CM Manik Sarkar is busy in accusing the central government for this termination of 156 RMSA workers for fund paucity, alleged the RMSA workers. However, failing to get any assurance from Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, the RMSA workers decided to stage a massive protest on November 4 at Agartala against the decision of the termination of the 156 RMSA workers by the state government. All the RMSA workers to stage protest against the decision of the state government and will demand justice for them.
