Govt's irrational help of Rs 20 crores to ILS irks questions

AGARTALA, Nov 8 (TIWN): On the one hand poor condition has hit the government run hospitals in the state, and the ruling government is busy in paying crores of money to the private run hospital in Tripura.The health status of the state is deteriorating due to the poor service at the government hospital and instead of improving the condition of government hospital the state is busy in giving huge amount of money to the ILS hospital.The sources claimed that in collaboration of CPI-M & Govt officials has provided a cash of Rs.20 crore to ILS hospital and when it comes to the development of the government hospital the authority is silent.Reportedly, on 16-Jul-2015 under check number 878275, Tripura government in collaboration with CPI-M & Govt officials has given an amount of Rs.20, 68, 82,890 to ILS Hospital, (Prop-GTP Healthcare Pvt. Ltd.).

The condition of the government hospitals is paralysed and In case, patient requires immediate treatment, the government hospitals do not have ventilators or oxygen masks. Only limited masks and ventilators are available on the hospitals and for immediate treatment. 

There is shortage of MRI, CT scan, X-ray, ultrasound machine etc. Patient in critical conditions are made to wait for several months and the condition in the government hospitals is very critical.

Its dysfunctional public health system continues to pose a grave threat to the health of Indian patients.

The government run hospitals in Tripura are outdated, understaffed, and not hygienic. Patients in public hospitals frequently sleep two to a bed. Hospitals have low supplies of medical devices, forcing many patient families to buy their own. Some families have claimed to spend up to several thousand of their own money on medical supplies. In addition, many of the hospital supplies are not properly sanitized. Hence, bacterial contamination is prevalent and the government does not take any initiative for the betterment of the hospitals.

It is alleged that to make them happy, the state government has paid them huge amount and they are not interested in improving the condition of the government hospitals in the state.
