AGARTALA, Nov 10 (TIWN):In the age of golden era where every now and then the Ministers claim about the development of the ADC area, the residents of Bagmara ADC village of Rupaichari RD Block under South Tripura district alleged that they are deprived of all the basic facilities of life. There are 26 villages under this ADC area with a population of around 10,289 families among them maximum are tribals.

Among these 26 villages, Ailmara, Bagmara, Hajachari, Bishnupur these four villages are facing the most critical condition for their survival. Most of the resident under this area falls under the umbrella of BPL category. In this village most of the people are landless. They have nothing of their own. They belong to the class of have-nots. They work hard and somehow arrange their two-square meals for their family members  but unable to earn enough to live on, said a villager.

Most of the areas of those villages were allocated for the border fencing area. Even after so much of tall claims made by the authorities, the poor villagers are getting contaminated water as the storage tank from where water is supplied to the village is in a dilapidated condition which is also not fit for human consumption.

Talking to TIWN, a villager also said that, for drinking, they fetch water from the remote streams and brooks.Earthen lamps cannot drive away the darkness of these villagers, as there is no proper facility of providing electricity to the households of the people.

In this village around 80 families are landless. They have nothing of their own. They belong to the class of have-nots.  Apart from them most of the families don’t have proper accommodation to live and somehow they are managing their shelter in old Tong Ghar, alleged a villager.

Apart from accommodation, the villagers are also deprived of the facility of Health sub-centre and they also don’t have the facility of Veterinary   hospital in the ADC village.

Talking to TIWN ADC village chairman agreed that there is no touch of development in this village comparing to other but it is hopeful that in the coming financial year more budget will be allocated for the development of the rural areas.

He further stated that We have to change this scenario by collective effort. This is our challenge and mission to change the plight of this section of people socially, economically and culturally.
