Bus tyres hatchet by miscreants: Drivers staged road blockade, demand arrest of the accused

AGARTALA, Nov 12 (TIWN): Traffic came to halt on Thursday morning when the bus drivers and the owners of the bus hit the streets at Radhanagar for more than 2 hours, after the drivers of the buses found their buses in a damaged condition at the Radhanagar bus stand. Reportedly, on Thursday morning when the bus drivers went to Radhanagar bus stand to begin the bus service the drives all of a sudden noticed that that some miscreants has hatchet the tyres of 10 buses and damaged the bus. However, it is to be mentioned here that the buses are kept at Radhanagar bus station under the supervision of strict security.It is suspected that some unidentified miscreants have entered the Radhanagar bus station and has hatchet the tyres of all together 10 bus.Like all other day when the bus drivers went to the bus station and they found that their bus is left in critical condition and can’t be brought on roads to provide service.The agitated drivers of the bus and owners thronged the streets at Radhanagar and block the traffic movement for more than two hours.Traffic movement was badly hampered as it is one of the important roads of the Agartala city.

The protestors did not allow any vehicle to cross the road for more than two hours at Radhanagar.

Getting alarm the traffic officials along with the police officials reached the spot, gave assurance to the bus drivers and asked them to withdraw their protest.

Agitated drivers and owners of the bus demanded for the arrest of the accused miscreants behind doing this activity and also asked to give compensation for their lakhs of damage.

The drivers alleged that this is for the first time that such shameful incident has happened. The drivers and owners demanded the arrest of the miscreants as early as possible.

Police is suspecting that as people were busy in diwali celebration last night and taking the advantage of the lack of the security at the radhanagar station the miscreant’s thronged at the station and has hatchet the tyres of the ten buses.

Police further confirmed that the miscreants have used sharp weapons to hatchet the tyres of the bus as the way the tyres are chopped it can be done only by using sharp weapons.

However, getting assurance from the officials to look into the matter the drivers and the owners withdrew their protest and let the traffic move swiftly.

Police is further investigating the case.
