AGARTALA, Nov 13 (TIWN): After huge doldrums regarding the poor condition of the NH-44 especially from Lowerpoa to Churaebari, the Assam government has finally taken the initiative to look into the matter. To inspect the poor condition of the road Assam, Additional chief secretary rushed to karimganj. Along with Lowerpoa he also inspected the condition of the adjacent connecting roads.Winding up his inspection, returning to Guwahati he instructed for the immediate renovation of the road as early as possible. It is to be mentioned here that the renovation work will begin soon. He also claimed that this time there will be no negligence in the construction of the road and quality materials will be used for the construction of the road.Reportedly, alleged negligence of Assam government has paralysed the National Highway from Lowerpoa of Assam’s Karimganj district upto Churaibari Assam gate.Even after several doldrums faced by the truck drivers and passengers, the so-called responsible authority could not manage their valuable time to take a notice of the miserable condition of the Assam-Agartala National Highway.

The leaders and ministers have surveyed the road a number of times, but they don’t pay much attention towards the issue. The 10 km long road has turned hazardous at present. Owing to the dilapidated condition, the government of Assam and Tripura opened the alternative National Highway of the state. The alternative way has turned into a corridor for smugglers and phensy mafias.

Worst is the condition of road from Kathaltali upto Assam gate Churaibari and from Lowerpoa upto Assam gate Churaibari. It may halt communication between Assam and Tripura anytime.

However, finally the Assam government has woke up from the long yawning siesta and has taken the initiative to renovate the road.
