KAMALPUR, Nov 10 (TIWN): Though the Chief Minister and the other Ministers in charge of different departments often claim to achieve more developments with every passing year, but the claim proves wrong when a department like DWS which remained enthroned to provide safe and pure drinking water to the inhabitants, failed to achieve target in consecutive two years then it would not be illogical to scan the demands of the state government. And this fact was revealed in the Annual Report of the department itself. As per the Annual Report- 2013-14 fiscal of the department, the department achieved 70.09% success in Deep Tube Well (DTW) Sinking and 45.07% success in deep tube-well Commissioning. But in the 2104-15, the Annual report disclosed that the rate of success in deep tube-well Sinking has been decreased to 51.10% and in commissioning it increased a bit to 65.44%.

In case of Small Bore Deep Tube Well (SBDTW) the rate of achievements were 72.51% and 57.98% in 2013-14 and 2014-15 respectively. In the matter of Iron Removal Plants (IRP) the department achieved 38.71% success in 2013-14 and 32.32% success in 2014-15. In cases of Surface Water Treatment Plant (SWTP) the department achieved 15.79% success in 2013-14 and 06.25% success in 2014-15.

In Pipeline Laying the rate of achievement remained 44.50% and 59.25% respectively in 2013-14 and 2014-15. In Habitation Coverage (Quantity wise) the department achieved 53.73% success in 2013-14 and magical or unbelievable 115.54% in 2014-15. In Quality wise habitation Coverage the achievement remained 23.15% in 2013-14 and 21.13% in 2014-15. But the department achieved extraordinary 122.32% achievement in Spot Source in 2013-14. And it reduced to mere 45.88% in 2014-15.

What seemed quite contrary to the demands of the government and its ministers, rested with the poor and unsteady performance of the department in two consecutive fiscal.
