BG conversion: NFR set to conduct CRS in | AGARTALA, Feb 5 (TIWN): Commission of Railway Safety, mainly known as CRS inspection will be done before March to smoothly run the BG passengers train in the state in the given deadline. NFR is all set to conduct the CRS inspection to ensure safety of the track which is newly converted from Metre gauge to Broad gauge. It is to be mentioned here that the newly converted BG rail track of two sections- Badarpur to Kumarghat and Kumarghat to Agartala would undergo CRS inspection by the end of February or early March, as claimed by the sources. CRS inspection is one of the quintessential steps to run the BG track. If everything falls in right place, the CRS inspection will be done in February or by early March and running passenger train depends on the reports of CRS inspection. If the CRS gives green signal, the track will be ready for introducing BG passenger train service by March itself. Now, the NFR authority is carrying out finishing works in two sections- Badarpur to Kumarghat and Kumarghat to Agartala to pave the way for running commercial passenger train service.Keeping the proposed Railway Budget in mind, the state government has already demanded to introduce super-fast trains connecting Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai with Agartala. | 04-Feb-2016 |

Situation in Tripura is worse than 'Jung | AGARTALA, Feb 4 (TIWN): Tall promises made by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar to ensure law and order in the state seems to be falling flat as Union Minister of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Giriraj Singh accompanied by BJP state president Biplab Deb in a wake to meet the rape victim on Thursday at GB hospital commented that “Jungle raj is still continuing in the stateâ€. Speaking to a rape victim at GB hospital on Thursday, Singh said that the law and order of the state is highly disturbed. The state government has failed to check crime and people are at the mercy of criminals, added Singh. He further said that everyone feels under threat and I feel the situation in Tripura is worse than the jungle raj it is experiencing these days. Law and order problem is not a new phenomenon in Tripura; successive government has, over the years, found it to be the most difficult issue to address, added Singh. Smart Cities: Tripura irked over Agartal | AGARTALA, Feb 4 (TIWN / IANS) : Peeved over the exclusion of state capital Agartala from the Smart Cities list, Tripura's Left Front government has lodged a protest with the Centre on the "shocking" omission. "The Tripura government is highly disappointed to see that Agartala is not included in the smart city list released recently," state Urban Development Minister Manik Dey wrote to union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu. He sought Naidu's intervention to redress the state's grievance. Dey said the Smart City proposal for Agartala was prepared as per the urban development ministry's guidelines and submitted within the stipulated time. "Even then, Agartala has not been selected in the first phase, which is very shocking.""We suspect that the team responsible for evaluating the proposals has not done the process appropriately. Otherwise, we see no reason why Agartala should not figure among the 20 (selected) cities," Dey said in the letter released to the media on Thursday. BG Conversion: Workers busy in fixing Ra | AGARTALA, Feb 4 (TIWN): Just when counting days are left for the official beginning of the BG passenger’s railway service in the state by March 31 the workers are busy in fixing the signals along the newly converted BG railway tracks. It is to be mentioned here that railway signalling is a system used to direct railway traffic and keep trains clear of each other at all times. Trains move on fixed rails, making them uniquely susceptible to collision. This susceptibility is exacerbated by the enormous weight and inertia of a train, which make it difficult to quickly stop when encountering an obstacle. After the Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF) has given clearance to the plan of setting up new terminal building at Agartala Airport, authority is yet to take any action for starting the work progress of the airport expansion. Reluctant to comment over the reason behind the slow progress of work, Director said that no initiative is taken to start the expansion work.
