Union Minister of State for MSME chaired a banker’s review meeting under PMEG

AGARTALA, Feb 4 (TIWN): Union Minister of State for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Giriraj Singh on Thursday chaired a banker’s review meeting organized under Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme at Pragna Bhawan.

During the programme, Minister for Education Tapan Chakraborty has felicitated the Union Minister of State for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Giriraj Singh.

The meeting was organized the joint initiative of the Department of Industries and Commerce and Tripura Khadi and Village Industries Board.

It is to be mentioned here that Union Minister of State for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Giriraj Singh arrived in Tripura on February 3.

Later he has visited the Khadi Gram Udyog Bhavan in Tripura and on Thursday he has visisted the GBP Hospital in Agaratla.

It is to be mentioned here that Giriraj Singh is a politician of Bharatiya Janata Party from Barahiya, Bihar, India. He is the Member of Parliament from the Nawada constituency in the 16th Lok Sabha, and a former minister in the cabinet of Nitish Kumar.

Union Minister of State for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises has served the Cabinet of Bihar as co-operative minister from 2005-2010 and Animal Husbandry minister from 2010 to 2013.

However, reportedly he has been a staunch supporter of Narendra Modi from the beginning. He publicly supported Modi for Prime Minister from long time.

He was among the eleven BJP ministers who were dismissed by Nitish Kumar as a result of breaking of JDU-BJP alliance. He is a member of Bihar State Bharatiya Janata Party's 16-member state election committee.

However, during his visit in Tripura, Union Minister of State for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises recalled that the PM had said, if you buy Khadi, you light the lamp of prosperity in the house of the poor.

Besides, he urged to promote Khadi and generate new jobs in the sector and also emphasized on increasing the contribution of khadi and on creating more jobs for rural women in khadi sector.
