Manik Sarkar's Tripura achieves dubious | AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, Feb 2 (TIWN): Even though another northeastern state Meghalaya achieved the coveted status of India's fastest-growing state as Meghalaya achieved 9.7 percent in 2013-14, higher than the fastest-growing big state, Madhya Pradesh, at 9.5 percent. Arunachal Pradesh grew faster than Gujarat.Fewer people, 12.8 million, live below the poverty line in the entire northeast than in just one large state, Karnataka, which has 12.9 million poor people. Other thing evident is that while northeast states are often clubbed together, it was found, in many cases, wide differences; for example, Manipur's high poverty rate and Sikkim's prosperity. Some of the economic indices are India's highest, and some are India's lowest. As per latest Govt statistics from 2011 to 2014, Tripura's decline in new Industry, unemployment is very high as Tripura reported India's highest unemployment rate, 25.2 percent in urban areas, followed closely by Nagaland with 23.8 percent in 2011-12. The highest unemployment in the urban areas of a large state was 7 percent, in Jammu and Kashmir.Latest report by leading research think-tank 'indiaspend' has exposed the hollow claims of Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar that Tripura is developed on par with other adavanced states in India. Tripura's Rs. 5000 crores Urea fertilize | AGARTALA, Feb 2 (TIWN): Despite of several tall claims to initiate the Rs. 5, 000 crores worth of fertilizer plant at Khobal under Unakoti District of Tripura is yet left unutilized.It is to be mentioned here that the project has been taken up with a joint venture of Tripura Government, ONGC and private sector firm Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals.However, though the State Government, ONGC, Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals had signed a MoU on April 9, 2012 to set up the project which is one of the biggest initiatives taken in the state so far yet no progress has been observed on the project. It is to be mentioned here that Tripura Government has allotted 800 acres of land to set up a Rs. 5, 000 crore of Urea fertiliser plant in the State. However, allegation has been raised the project of the commencement of the Chambal Fertilizers and Chemicals is being delayed intentionally which has brewed resentment among the opposition party as well as the common people.The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), in association with Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited (CFCL) and the Tripura government took the initiative to set up the Rs.5, 000 crore plant in northern Tripura.However, the plant was supposed to be operational by 2016 by due to delay in the project the function of the plant is likely to face more delay. | 02-Feb-2016 |

Uncertainty looms large over constructio | AGARTALA, Feb 2 (TIWN): Despite of several complains and demands to provide notice of land acquisition for the 485 meter of non-fencing area by the locals of Shilpara, the authority is least bothered to take any initiatives.It is to be mentioned here that though several days has been passed that the locals had intentionally stopped that construction work of the non-fencing area of Shilpara under Kailashahar Sub-Division, the authorities are hot taking any initiatives alleged the locals. According to the locals of the Shilpara, the authority has not yet issued any notice of acquisition of land which has been taken from the locals for the fencing work. Govt mismanagement drives heavy resentme | AGARTALA, Feb 1 (TIWN): Resentment brewing up among the CNG vehicle drivers at TRTC CNG station as vehicles without hydrating will not get CNG refills at pumps from now on, as the Tripura Natural Gas and Company Limited (TNGCL) recently issued directives making hydro – testing mandatory for every CNG vehicles. This makes a majority of the auto rickshaws and four-wheelers in the city overdue for testing. However earlier considering that they installed CNG kits beyond 2010; reportedly vehicles due, for the hydro test had to get an updated compliance plate, while those without one will mandatorily have to install such a plate. However, from now on hydro – testing is mandatory once in a three years which cost around Rs 2000.Resentment sparked off among the drivers when they were denied to pump gas in the vehicles as some particulars vehicles had not undergone hydro – testing. BG expansion in Tripura : Facelift work | AGARTALA, Feb 1 (TIWN): With the aim to run the BG passenger train on the newly converted BG track by March 31st, the priority is given to the facelift work of the Agartala railway station. It is to be mentioned here that the workers are engaged in the last touch of the facelift work at Agartala railway station. However, the first BG engine rolling is completed up to Agartala and the ballast train has also made its roll and now its turn for the BG passengers train to make its roll in Agartala. Keeping in mind the roll of the train upto Agartala by March 31 the workers are engaged in completing the work of laying tracks and the other essential works.With the successful run of the BG train engine and ballast train, the NFR is also likely to conduct CRS inspection on the newly converted BG rail track for safety clearance followed by the final run of the BG passenger train in February.Along with the work progress of laying the BG railway track the Agartala railway station is all set to get facelift. Construction of platform work is going on in full-swing at Badarghat railway station. Volvo bus fails to cater required passen | AGARTALA, Feb 1 (TIWN): The much talked Volvo bus service which was inaugurated with much of drama and festival, has now come to such a situation that it is hardly providing any service. The sources said that due to lack of passengers willing to travel through the Volvo bus it has stopped providing service on daily basis. It is to be mentioned here regular Volvo bus service has broken down over past few days and no initiative is being taken to improve the service in the state.The Volvo bus service may be offering comfort to passengers but it is struggling to cater passengers. Doctrines guiding diplomacy are usually named after those who propound it -- Monroe doctrine or Gujral doctrine .But strategic analyst, journalist and author Subir Bhaumik has propounded the "Agartala Doctrine of Appropriate Response" on the basis of his analysis of tinyTripura's role in handling the neighborhood.
