CPI-M’s septuagenarian leadership | AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, Feb 17 (TIWN): CPI-M top leaders have proven beyond doubt that they will never budge an inch to young generation or other backward castes, tribals to take up party mantles in 21st century. Not only that ,southern Brahmin dominated Politburo led by Malayali Brahmin Prakash Karat and Telugu Brahmin Sitaram Yechury made sure that no youth leader even who are in 50s or up will be selected in party’s all powerful Politburo. So, due to these two fools, CPI-M as a party already extinct from national map, barely exist as opposition in Bengal and Kerala. Even though CPI-M only in power in tiny Tripura but more credit goes to Tripura’s lameduck opposition Congress than any achievement by CPI-M party itself. On the eve of elections to five state assemblies including Kerala and West Bengal, the Left is now in an identity crisis and has subjected itself to two opposing pulls from within on the question of an alliance with the Congress. In a recent article published in a mass-circulation daily, Prakash Karat, the former CPI-M general secretary, has honestly pointed out the self-contradictions that have hamstrung the communist movement of India from its inception. That the Left has now been clamouring for an alliance with the Congress is an outcome of such in-built deficiencies. Bottomline is Karat, Yechury cares less for inner-party democracy rather focused on controlling party and enjoying all perks and benefits till the end of life like erstwhile Maharajas. | 16-Feb-2016 |

Although during the election time, helicopter hopper Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and his Cabinet Ministers confidently chant songs of development in rural areas but if one takes a journey to visit the govt. schools of rural areas, the truth will be exposed. Former Tripura Governor P.B.Achariya was quite active in inspecting rural schools on sudden visits and unplanned helicopter landings in States hilly areas but present Governor Tathagata Roy yet to take up such fact finding missions. Tripura people expect Governor Tathagata Roy to be more proactive and spend more time taking stock of living conditions of Tripura people rather than sitting in Raj Bhavan and tweeting on Bengal or National politics. Although TET Exam was held in Tripura for the first time to appoint more number of teachers in last December, but reportedly not even 15 percent of the candidates could pass in the exam.
