One convicted to 7 years of imprisonment

UDAIPUR, Feb 3 (TIWN): Assistant Session Judge Debashish Kar of Gomati District Court on Wednesday convicted an accused driver to 7 years of imprisonment for hitting a man to death with his vehicle.

Reportedly, Assistant Session Judge Debashish Kar on Wednesday convicted the accused under Section 337 of IPC with Rs. 500 fine and one month of jail. Besides, under section 304 (Part – II) seven years of imprisonment and fine of Rs. 10, 000 or else six month of imprisonment.

The case was handled by public prosecutor Biplab Kanti Datta and the IO of the case was Krishna Dhan Debnath.

According to the reports, the incident took place on 5/ 2/ 2015 in front of the Ramthakur Ashram under Amarpur Birganj Police Station at around 1 am.

The bolero vehicle bearing registration number SA01-FC-7451 was arriving from motor stand when the convicted driver Suman Saha hits Nanda Lal Saha.

Describing the incident, it has been mentioned that on the day the Ramthakur Ashram was holding a function and huge crowd has been observed where Nanda Lal Saha has also participated.

It has been mentioned that despite of seeing the huge crowd in the area, the car driver Suman Saha drive the car in speed resulting to serious injury to Nanda Lal Saha.

However, after hitting the Nanda Lal Saha the accused driver Suman Saha, when tries to elope from the spot the locals grabbed him and handed him to the police of Birganj.

It is to be mentioned here that after the incident Nanda Lal Saha lost his life and later, Bijoy Lal Saha registered a FIR against the accused driver Suman Saha.

However, after an investigation a charge sheet has been filed and is being submitted to the court. On Wednesday, accused driver Suman Saha has been convicted to 7 years of imprisonment.
