South Tripura to get BG rail line by 201 | AGARTALA, July 7 (TIWN): Thousands of men and women gathered at many stations between Lumding in Assam and Agartala in Tripura as the last of the metre gauge trains chugged its way out, bidding them a final goodbye whereas hundreds of Agartala passengers eye at south to get linked with the BG rail line. The proposed Rs. 1,741 crore for Agartala-Sabroom railway lines is expected to be completed by 2017, said the official.Whereas if things fall in place, the ongoing work of BG conversion work from Lumding to Agartala via Badarpur would be completed by March 2016.The official said that the construction work for laying the broad gauge lines in currently underway in full swing with the labours and the concerned NFR workers actively engaged to the work despite the bad weathers.The official further said that, a preliminary trial run will be held followed by passengers train. There will be 10 railway stations at places including Sekerkot, Bisalgarh, Bisramganj, Udaipuir, Gorji, Santir Bazar, Belonia, Jolaibari, Monu, and sabroom between Agartala- Sabroom rail link. There will also be some station buildings and rest house in between the Agartala- Sabroom rail link.Sabroom would emerge as a gateway for trade in the South-East Asia. Police still in dark with Pritam murder | AGARTALA, July 6 (TIWN): The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Monday had sent the accused wife Suchishmita Biswas (Roy) to three days police remand on charge of killing her 22 years old husband Pritam Roy. The incident occurred on Friday morning after the locals of Agartala Palace Compound found Pritam dead at his rented house. The East Agartala police station’s police following this, had arrested the accused wife Suchishmita Roy on Sunday for her alleged involvement in the murder case. At the mean time when the accused wife Suchishmita was produced before the court the family members of Pritam on Monday managed to hit the East Agartala police station seeking justice for the death of their son Pritam Roy. The family members were found scuffled with the concerned police personal. Tripura mulls to revive water link with | AGARTALA, July 6 (TIWN): When the entire North Eastern region of the country is eyeing forward to boost the bi-lateral trade with the neighbouring country Bangladesh, the Tripura Left front Government is planning to revive the water link with Bangladesh by using river Howrah which remained as a history till today. Chief Minister Manik Sarkar taking up the plan has recently stressed to revive the history. Tripura Govt. has mulled an ambitious plan to establish cross border inland water transport link with Bangladesh river port through the major river Howarh for transportation of goods, said the press communiqué. Sarkar called to constitute a team, comprising of Forest department, Drinking Water and Sanitation (DWS) department, and river experts and takes up the synopsis of the plan to connect river Howarh with Bangladesh with an aim to transport goods. The move has come up after Sarkar along with the State Forest Department visited the Check dam site of the river Howarh at Baramura hill. Visiting the catchment site Sarkar had restricted any kind of human habitation. River Howrah is the lifeline of the capital city of Tripura, due to which people get access to drinking water which is purified by the ‘Water Treatment Plants’. He said that a section of refugees who turned out in the identification process, had informed that they would not go back to Mizoram as the government had not cleared the rehabilitation package. Repatriation process at Hamsapara camp, scheduled to commence from Monday, is not likely to be undertaken, Das said. TNGCL to supply PNG to 10,000 houses | AGARTALA, July 5 (TIWN): With the initiative of TNGCL (Tripura Natural Gas Company limited), 10,000 houses will be supplied with PNG (Piped Line natural Gas) connection in this financial year. Tripura capital city Agartala would soon turn into a green metropolitan. All together 10,000 households would be provided piped cooking gas connections. TNGCL has taken this initiative with the aim to make Agartala a green city, first of its kind in eastern India. By next financial year, further 10,000 households in Agartala would be covered by piped natural gas (PNG) connections for cooking purposes. With the supply of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to homes in Agartala, it has become easier to supply gas to the household. PNG facilitates non-stop supply, no need to fret about an underweight, pilfered cylinder, no need to pull strings for prompt delivery. And unlike the heavily subsidized, competing liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), natural gas, till now at least, is both cheap and profitable. Already 20,000 households are connected with PNG. Apart from this TNGCL has also provided 300 commercial connections to the business centers. Along with the household and commercial connection TNGCL has also provided 47 PNG connections in several factories in Bodhjungnagar industrial sector area.According to the TNGCL source, a large number of industrial units, hotels and crematoria were already running on PNG. Focusing on the increasing number of CNG fueled vehicles, the TNGCL has already set up a mother CNG refilling station at Udaipur and in this regard TNGCL to set up 4 daughter boosters at Amarpur, Shantibazar, Belonia, and Sonamura, said TNGCL Manager S. However, the BSNL had recently received Rs. 5, 336 crore for the NE development in respect of the telecommunication service, said Chief General Manager NE-I Circle D. P. Singh on Saturday talking to the media persons at BSNL office.He said, “Amongst Rs. 5, 336 crore, Rs. 1, 900 crore would be required to improve telecom connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.†Adding to that Singh said that another Rs. 2, 800 crore for other north eastern states, Rs. 270 crore would be required to intensify the coverage in the national highways of the NE states and Rs. 300 crore for the transmission media, Singh said to reporters.On being asked about the bad service of the BSNL here in Tripura, Singh interacting with the media persons on Saturday said, “We had already talked to the state government here, taking the stock of the situation and several meetings were held in this regard.â€Adding to that D. Indo-Bangla Feni Bridge to get DPR in 2 | AGARTALA, July 5 (TIWN): On yet another escalation to the bi-lateral trade between India and Bangladesh the construction of the two-lane bridge over the river Feni to get the Direct Project Report (DPR) within 2 months from now, said a top official of the state Public Work Department (PWD). Prime Minister Narendra Modi had tied a nod to the bridge during his visit at Dhaka on June 5. The decision to construct the bridge over the Feni river had come up earlier in a high level meeting chaired by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar. Asked about the development to the project work the top official of the PWD said that the DPR is currently underway and it would take another 2 months at least to get it ready.He said that earlier the bridge over the river Feni was proposed to be of four lanes but now it had been finalised that the bridge would be of two-lanes.The bridge from Tripura’s Sabroom would connect Bangladesh through its Chatokil Ananda Para.
