KHOWAI, July 7 (TIWN): Distribution of low quality of food in Khowai District Hospital for past 5-6 days brews resentment among the patient and the patient parties.

The 100 bed capacity hospital has been facing terrible situation after the food quality degraded and lost the minimum standard of quality in the served foods for last 5-6 days. This situation lead headache for the patients as well as for the patient parties, as they had to carry food from their houses or else had to manage nutritious food from outside the hospital premises, complained a patient.

However, misery does not end here, the X-ray machine and the Sonography machine has remained non-functional for prolonged two months. Therefore, the patient parties were asked to go for the test from any private centres.

This situation raised a question that if the destitute could afford the private cost then why they would come for the Government facilities.

“We have come here because we cannot afford the hefty cost of the private sector hospitals but the daily cost of the food items and test reports has been worrying us”, said a relative of a patient.

This situation has become a cause of worry for both the patients and doctors. It appears that the hospital need keen eyes on the quality of the food which were served to the patients for last few days. If not of high quality but at least the authority can take initiative to maintain minimum standard of food.

“We have to cover a long distance to visit the hospital by that time the food which we bring from our house gets spoil. But the poor quality of food left us no option rather than to buy the oily food from outside the hospital”, said a patient party.

Though there are no complaints about the treatment provided in the hospital but the scarce of good quality food created hue and cry among patients and the patient parties. The scenario of the hospital speaks volumes about the gravity of the situation.

However, the patients also alleged that the staffs including the nurse manage to whip the food items which come in the name of hospital.

Though, the patient did not complaint against the treatment and the doctors but the issue of low quality food and technical disruption in the machines making the situation worst days by day.

Talking to TIWN, CMO P.K Majumder said that the machines are not working due to some technical faults. He also informed that one month back the authority had sent a letter to the Health Department urging to renovate the machine but no updates has been received yet.

When asked about the scarce of good quality of food, Majumder did not say anything rather he said he will look in to the situation.
