UDAIPUR, July 6 (TIWN): Resentment brewed up among the residents of Laxmipati Village under Udaipur Sub-Division on Sunday, after the DWS officials disconnected the illegal water supply line. The move has come up after the concerned department found the locals are being connected to the illegal water supply.

The agitators claimed that the area lacks proper water supply facilities for the past many days and this has bound the concerned locals to take up the illegal water connections at their house. After the locals were deprived from the water supply system that had illegally took the water supply connection from the pump line, an underground water pipe line available in the road side of the area, they claimed.

The residents said that the DWS officials on June 4 disconnected the water supply connection after they found the connections were illegal but the department had so far deprived the locals of Laxmipati village. Along with DWS officials, Pitra Out-post OC Bidya Debbarma and others visited the area and disconnected the water supply connection, said an agitated local.

They have informed about the pathetic condition of the Laxmibabi Village Panchayat which sustained for several times but yet today not a single initiative has been taken to resolve the water scarcity in the area, alleged the locals.

“For prolonged days we are suffering from water scarcity. Even we have asked the Panchayat to provide the water supply connection but no initiative has been taken. Therefore, bound of the situation we had taken the water supply connection illegally”, said a local.

Deprived from their basic right, the agitated locals on Sunday went to the over tank suspecting smell of decomposed body. When the locals went to the spot, they opened the cover of the tank and found a dead snake in to the tank.

Resentment brewed among the locals when they saw the dead snake in the tank and complained that for last one month the authorities have been supplying polluted water. Agitated locals also blamed that the negligence of the DWS could have lead to some major spread of diseases in the area.

The agitated locals on Sunday blamed the DWS for this pathetic situation and asked to provide water supply as soon as possible.
