Tripura attends Indo-Bangla joint meetin | AGARTALA, July 23 (TIWN): To put into operation the Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) ratified in the last Parliament session, Tripura secretary for Revenue Puneet Agarwal on Thursday left for Dhaka. Agarwal along with the secretariat level officers of the northeastern states attend the India-Bangladesh joint meeting. The Joint Boundary Working Group ( JBWG) of India and Bangladesh is scheduled to meet on Thursday in Dhaka to implement the Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) ratified in the last Parliament session, top official informed. The meeting will be attended by delegates from India, Bangladesh and Myanmar which aims to decide on marking the border after enclaves are exchanged under the land deal. Tripura will be represented by state revenue secretary Punit Agarwal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had signed the agreement with his Bangladesh counterpart on June 6 at Dhaka with the door finally opened for over 50,000 virtually stateless people to finally get a national identity. As per the agreement, the disputed Chandan Nagar village under the Dhalai district of Tripura would join with the Indian Territory whereas Muhri Char of Belonia under South District of Tripura would merge with the Bangladesh territory.There are 51 families with a little over 300 people living in Chandan Nagar village (Dhalai). They are allowed to cultivate on the other side of the fencing near the Dhalai river, but most of the times, Bangladeshi villagers take away their crops. | 23-Jul-2015 |
Despite central nod Tripura Govt. opens | AGARTALA, July 23 (TIWN): Despite the central government had sanctioned to build up at least 16 schools at reang refugee camp under North Tripura District, the state government had so far failed to act towards setting up educational institutions depriving the refugees at large from primary education.In a PAB meeting at New Delhi during the 2014-15 Financial Year the central government had sanctioned the state government to start 16 schools at reang refugee camp for at least 4000 children. In the government report it was stated that state had a target of covering 4924 out of school children during 2014-15. State covered 3968 children only. The report also mentioned that state could not cover 956 identified out of school children. During 2014-15, against coverage of 743 children under special training, state could mainstream only 281 children in regular school which is 38 per cent only. It was also pointed out that only 16 NRST centres in camps populated by the Reang migrant are running in perpetuation as there are no schools in these camps. However, previous year PAB has approved 16 primary schools exclusively for this children notwithstanding the neighbourhood norms of the state. HC to hear TSGF’s plea on private | AGARTALA, July 23 (TIWN): Tripura High Court to hear the private tuition issue soon as the Tripura Students’ Guardian Forum (TSGF) had recently filed an affidavit before the HC seeking continuation of private tuition by government teachers before drawing a conclusion. Internal audit unearths multi-crore scam | AGARTALA, July 22 (TIWN): An alleged scam running into Rs 2.8 crore in Agartala Government Medical College and Agartala GB Pant Hospital has come to light after an internal audit, being unearthed by the Opposition Congress on Wednesday. PCC President and Opposition Leader Sudip Roy Barman on Wednesday unearthing the multi-crore scam alleged that the preliminary internal audit report on the accounts of the Medical Superintendent at AGMC and GBP Hospital has found serious misappropriation of money for the period from April 1, 2010 to November 30, 2014. The audit report also the copy in possession with TIWN, it revealed non preparation of cash analysis and bank reconciliation statement at the end of the month whereas at the end of each month a cash analysis should be prepared in such a way that scheme wise fund left unutilized can be found out easily. But during the scrutiny it was found that cash analysis and bank reconciliation statement was never done on the closing balance at the end of the month.Besides, it also revealed discrepancy between cash book and balance shown in the bank statement. RMSA scam accused Dy Director Ambalika D | AGARTALA, July 22 (TIWN): The Additional District and Session Court have sent the Tripura education department Deputy Director Amablika Dutta for 14 days jail custody on Tuesday for allegedly embezzling more than Rs. 4 crore from a central government scheme. Ambalika who was arrested on July 14 managed to stay safe at hospital till today simply in the name of illness and stomach pain whereas the attending doctors had prepared on Saturday to release her.Ambalika was discharged on Tuesday from the IGM Hospital at around 1:30 pm and later police produced her before the court, said senior police officer. Ambalika would be produced before the court again on August 3.The senior police officer told to TIWN, “We have demanded for jail remand but the court on Tuesday has send Ambalika to jail custody rejecting our demand on medical ground.â€On Saturday morning Ambalika was supposed to be discharged by the doctors but at around 10 am Amabilika again reported the doctors that she is suffering from a severe stomach pain following which the doctors again had to admit her and prescribed medicines, said police.Officer also said that Ambalika filed a bail petition before the High Court recently following which the HC would hear the bail plea onJuly 22. Soil testing work for flyover under prog | AGARTALA, July 21 (TIWN): The flyover construction work is going on full swing from Agartala Battala to Drop Gate area with a target to complete the entire work by 30 months as tied by the state government. “We have already kicked off the project work and is currently undergoing in full swing,†said PWD Engineer in Chief Sunil Bhowmik. However, the soil testing work is currently in progress at the mentioned route and is likely to take the stretch towards Fire brigade Chowmuhni very soon. At present the entrusted Nagarjuna Construction Company (NCC) has undertaken the soil testing work in at least 10 spots from Battala to Drop Gate amongst which 4 to 5 has been completed. At the meantime the engineers are also actively engaged to the work for making the strictures of the pillars over which the two lane flyover road would be erected. Despite the bad weather the engineers of the NCC are actively engaged to the entire project work. The main work for the flyover construction is in progress at the centre point at Battala which would link the flyover from Drop Gate to Fire brigade Chowmuhni. Following the investigation, the team has also scrutinized the rented room of Pritam where he was found dead. East police has already handed over the documents related to the murder case.For quick investigation of pritam’s murder, the case is being handed over to the CID team. The team is constituted under the leadership of SP of state CID branch.As a part of the investigation the team has also interrogated with the parents of the pritam and has also questioned the localites of the area to resolve the mystery behind pritam’s murder. The team will also interrogate with the family and friends of the accused wife of the deceased Suchismita very soon. However, Police so far were unable to expose whether Pritam was murdered or he had committed suicide, but a deep injury mark on his neck clearly indicates that he was murdered. Following the investigation carried out by police the parents of Pritam expressed disappointment over the progress of the case and has met Chief Minister Manik Sarkar seeking justice to the murder of their son Pritam. Tripura doctors prepares to pursue Govt. | AGARTALA, July 21 (TIWN): Just after the High Court on its interim order has asked government doctors not to run private chambers for more than three hours on working days and six hours on holidays panic broke out among the section of doctors in Agartala and other parts of the state. The situation had turned worst as was expected and has completely left the patients derived at large. The controversial private practices by the govt. doctors had worried the patients of every section and left them in dilemma. Section of patients who are worried to the ban of private practices by the doctors of the state claimed, “If the government would have taken a legal step against the private practices of the doctors from the very beginning than these days would not have to be seen now.†However, the doctors in Tripura are preparing to battle against the rules and guidelines of the state government here. Film study course kick starts at TU | AGARTALA, July 21 (TIWN): For the first time in Tripura, a full time course in Film Studies has begun in Tripura University. The admission process for the session has already concluded. Along with the film studies course, a full time degree course on Rubber production is also scheduled to get introduced from this current financial year.
