AGARTALA, July 7 (TIWN): For the first of its kind, a course on book publication to be introduced in Tripura University at the behest of National Book Trust (NBT). The course is reserved for the students of English Department of Tripura University from the next year, said officials of NBT.

 To begin with NBT, an apex body of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt of India in collaboration with Department of English, Tripura University is organizing a certificate course in Book Publishing at English Department between July 7 and 14.

Book-Publishing course would train the students in various jobs related to Book Publishing including editing, layering printing, binding, designing, marketing. Information and Cultural Affairs minister Bhanu Lal Saha, Loksabha MP Jitendra Chowdhury and Chairman of NBT Baldeo Bhai Sharma will attend the inaugural programme at Tripura University auditorium on July 7.

Head of Tripura University English department Dr Ashesh Gupta said while addressing the press today that the courses will introduce the students of Tripura with a new genre, and from 2016 the course can be taken by the students of English as an optional subjects in their 3^rdand 4^th semester.

This course is related to the creative world and offers opportunities for those who have interest in literary world and especially for the book-lovers, he said adding that this course aims to cater to the growing needs of the publishing industry including Editing, Production, Designing and Marketing.
