AGARTALA, July 6 (TIWN): On its ambitious plan, the state Government has taken initiatives to renovate the Dasarath Deb Sports Stadium at Badharghat soon.
As per the proposed plan submitted to the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, in the prominent stadium a two storey-building will be constructed for the athletics to dwell. Besides, for the better development of the state athletics in swimming, a 9 lane swimming pool tank of 400 metre will be constructed.
In the proposed plan it has been mentioned that keeping in mind the growing popularity of various sports in the state, the 2 storey-building was designed with capacity of 300 players. Therefore, the players from distance areas will not face problems to stay in the stadium building and can practice well within the complex area. The first floor of the building itself will have the capacity for 300 players.
Further, observing the growing number of sports lovers, an auditorium with 500 capacities has been included in the proposed plan by the concern agency. Besides, the auditorium hall of hundred audience capacity will be constructed and also various other facilities will be included to make it a modern stadium.
Temporary three thousand six hundred sitting facilities will be constructed in the stadium for the spots lovers.
Altogether, Rs. 154 crore of funds have been expected to be spent in the proposed project. However, to develop the communication system of the stadium, recently a meet has been organized.
Chief Minister Manik Sarkar asked the concern authority to reduce some amount from the fund. The proposed plan was designed by M.S. Kapoor and associate.
A committee has been appointed by the State government to inspect the complex and to prepare a report detailing measures towards its development.
