SABROOM, July 6 (TIWN): In a recently organized meeting at Sabroom Nagar Panchayat office, MLA Rita Kar stated that after the successful installation of LED Street–lights in Agartala city, the energy-saving option is all set to be adopted at Sabroom sub-division for an instant face lift of the sub-division.

After Agartala, the Tripura government has initiated a move to illuminate Sabroom sub-division through LED lights, replacing sodium vapor and other lamps to save energy.

Sabroom Nagar Panchayat Chairperson Mahitosh Chakraborty, MLA Rita Kar along with dignitaries remained present in the program.

The main objective of this project is substantial reduction in energy consumption of the street light system, considerable reduction of electricity bills for street lighting of the sub-division, reduction in evening peak load and to provide better and adequate lighting levels compared to existing system.  

However, the installation of LED lighting will contribute to India’s carbon neutral initiative. This will not only reduce our energy bill, but will also provide better lighting on streets and will give them a modern look.

As a part of the development program of Sabroom sub-division, and to beautify the looks of the sub-division, LED lights will be installed in the both side of the road at National Highway 44 road of Sabroom motor stand.

Installing of LED light is highly beneficial as LED (light–emitting diode) lights have a lifespan of 10–12 years or 50,000 hours of burning. Normal filament bulbs can be used for few months. In addition, the LED light is more directional and visibility is greater.

It is to be mentioned here that Agartala is the first city in northeastern India and second city in eastern India (after Kolkata) to install an LED-based street lighting system.

So far it is not yet decided when the first will phase of installment of LED light will kick start but the Sabroom sub-divisional administration is determined about the installing of LED lights.

Further as a part of the development of the Sabroom sub-division, it was also decided in the meeting that for avoiding water logging on the roads the drainage system will also be improved. 18 tube wells will be installed, 6 more water body will also be constructed for water conservation.

Drinking water facility, transportation facility along with electricity facility will also be improved, said MLA Rita Kar in the recently organized meeting at Sabroom Nagar Panchayat office.
