Agartala-Badarpur Mega Block BG conversi | AGARTALA, July 31(TIWN): Concerning the Mega-block work of the railway network work is underway in full swing and it is expected that Agartala-Badarpur Mega Block BG conversion to begin from October 1. It is expected that the work of lying tracks for 227 km long railway track from Badarpur to Agartala to begin from October 1. According to the Rail authority, Agartala railway station will be counted among one of the big stations. There will be 17 railway tracks in Agartala railway station which is expected to cater rail service from different parts of the state. Fatal road mishaps in NE Tripura decline | AGARTALA, July 31 (TIWN): The number of road accidents has been reduced by 28 percent while death cases have been declined by 26 percent. The number of injured persons has been reduced by 164 percent reflecting better road management by the Traffic Unit. NEEPCO starts commercial power generatio | AGARTALA, July 30 (TIWN): The North East Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) has finally started the commercial power generation of 23 Mega Watt (MW) from R C Nagar power plant. However, another power unit of NEEPCO is awaiting to get the nod of the Commercial Operation Declaration (COD), said NEEPCO official on Thursday.Agartala Gas Thermal Combine Cycle has been one of the best power plants of NEEPCO. Besides two steam turbine-fuelled units, four units (21X4) are functioning as per the installed capacity. Another 25 MW power unit (Steam) has been switched on but commercial operation has not been declared yet. The official said that the second power unit sometime faces trouble due to the problem in gas supply being supplied by ONGC. He also said that the second unit of steam turbine which is also doing well is expected to get commercial operation by next couple of days.It is to be note that RC Nagar power plant is one of the finest thermal power projects of the NEEPCO. NEEPCO is an electricity generation public sector undertaking owned by the Government of India under the Ministry of Power, formed on 2 April 1976 to plan, investigate, design, construct, generate, operate and maintain power stations in the North Eastern Region of the country. NFR likely to operate Passenger Train se | SILCHAR/AGARTALA 30 (TIWN): Passenger train service along the newly laid Silchar-Lumding broad-gauge route is likely to begin next month.Sources in the Northeast Frontier Railway told that the passenger railway service was likely to be flagged off in August by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The line is expected to open for passenger trains from August 15, the source added.The office of the general manager of NFR, Ranjit Singh Virdi, today said he would conduct an inspection of the line from Badarpur to Haflong on Tuesday.The commissioner of railway safety, Sudarshan Kumar Nayak, in his report had mentioned that the Haflong-Silchar railway link was risky for passenger trains. .The report suggested the NFR to engage structural engineering and technology experts to review the status of the route.The senior public relations officer, NF Railway (construction), D.C. Bora, said the railway would take all sorts of preventive measures before starting passenger services on the route. “The NF railway is capable of overcoming the loopholes that were mentioned in the report. RMSA scam accused Ambalika Dutta likely | AGARTALA, July 30 (TIWN): Tripura High Court on Wednesday kept the bail plea of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) scam accused Ambalika Duitta pending and would take up the final hearing very soon, said police who is actively engaged to the investigation of the scam. On being asked police said that Ambalika likely to get a bail on medical ground only if the court pronounce. Besides, the court on Wednesday also kept the bail plea of another RMSA scamster Arnab Chakroborty pending. Both the accused are currently grilled at Bishalgarh central jail. Fund for Indo-Bangla rail project land a | AGARTALA, July 30 (TIWN): Tripura Government is expected to receive the fund of Rs. 97 crore for the land acquisition of the proposed rail link between India and Bangladesh from Northeastern state of Tripura from the central government soon, said official source. The centre had already reduced the total fund for the long awaiting project in view of the high cost of the land in the India territory. The fund for land acquisition was cut from Rs. 302 crore to Rs. 97 crore. At the mean time the Lok Sabha was recently being informed that there has been no work for the proposed Agartala Akhaura rail project due to the high cost of land in the Indian territory. But, in view of the same the centre had recently sanctioned a total of Rs. 580 crore for the project whereas the fund for the land acquisition is likely to be released soon to Tripura Government. Indo-Bangla export import trade resumes | AGARTALA, July 29 (TIWN): The export and import business between Tripura and Bangladesh and the transportation of goods resumed form Monday, said Export and Import Secretary Habul Biswas. The trade was suspended due to the construction work of a bridge, at Bangladesh side. All transports remained suspended due to this Bharamanbaria Road and waterway Baily bridge renovation work, he said. As there is only one way for importing as well exporting goods from both the sides, it is decided by the authority that business will remain suspended for two days and the bridge will be renovated under emergency time period of two days and the business will be resumed by Monday in full swing. All the major markets of Tripura depend on the import of fish from Bangladesh, so there is possibility that measures might be taken to continue the supply of fishes to the state as fishes come in smaller vehicles but the movement of heavy goods loaded truck will remain suspended. CBI probe likely for Bishalgarh RD Block | AGARTALA, July 29 (TIWN): High Court would hear the two separate Public Interest Litigations (PILs) over the much hyped Bishalgarh multi-crore scam on August 31. The two separate PILs were filed by Senior Advocate Arun Chandra Bhowmik and Dr. Ashok Sinha seeking Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the scam unearthed at Bishalgarh R. D. Block. The hearing is believed to be the final. Talking to TIWN in this regard advocate Arun Chandra Bhowmik on Wednesday said that the serious scam and the first of its kind ever unearthed in Bishalgarh RD Block and which can be termed as much hyped is likely to get the CBI probe.In the recent past, Court partly heard the plea on cancellation of bail of suspended BDO Bimal Chakraborty, who was arrested for his alleged involvement in the multi-crore scam at Bishalgarh block, filed by Police. Agartala-Udaipur rail targeted to open b | AGARTALA, July 29 (TIWN): Agartala-Udaipur section is targeted for opening by March 2016, said the NFR delegation team meeting transport minister Manik Dey at the secretariat recently. Several other issues related to the mega block work was also taken up in the meeting where the team has placed certain demands from the state government.Land would be handed over by August 2015 as per annexure so that project can be commissioned within target date, said official. However, inspection of the section by Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) is scheduled in February 2016. Land in Udaipur – Sabroom section is also required to be handed over early to adhere the target of Engine Rolling in the section of March 2017 and commissioning of the section by March 2018.Meeting with the minister the NFR delegation had sought permission from the state government for disposal of surplus earth in forest land in Udaipur-Sabroom section, said official. Tripura Govt. to approach HC again appea | AGARTALA, July 28 (TIWN): After the Tripura High Court had rejected appeal to stay the transfer order of state law secretary Data Mohan Jamatia, the state Left front government has decided to approach the court again demanding the same. “We would again approach the HC appealing to stay the transfer order of Jamatia till January 16,†said Law Minister Tapan Chakraborty. Jamatia was transferred on July 15 and Chief Secretary Y. P. Singh was asked by the HC to induct new law secretary immediately replacing D. M. Jamatia. Jamatia was supposed to join as new District and Session Court Judge (Unakoti) on August 3 this year but Minister Tapan Chakraborty expressed his inability to release Jamatia now saying that there are several pending assignments with Jamatia and it needs to be restored.
