KAILASHAHAR, Jan 16 (TIWN): It has been more than one week that the fencing work of the Shilpara under Kailashahar Sub-Division has been stopped over the demand to provide notice of land acquisition.
According to the locals of the Shilpara, the authority has not yet issued any notice regarding acquisition of land which has been taken from the locals for the fencing work.
The delay in the work of the border fencing may lead to more smuggling of cattle and other items in the area.
However, the locals alleged that though it is going to be more than one week but the authority is least bothered about the needs of the locals.
The agitated locals alleged that for the past one year they have been demanding for the notice of land acquisition to the administration.
They complained that the land which has been taken for the border fencing from the locals till day no notice of the compensation has been released from the administration. Therefore, they do not have any prove that they have given the land to the state government for fencing work.
It is to be mentioned that the fencing work for the 485 metre of border area are stopped on January 9.
Besides, other than 485 meter of border area, fencing in all the other area of Kailashahar has been completed.
The agitated locals alleged that for the past one year they have been demanding for the notice of land acquisition to the administration but yet no initiatives are being taken.
On the other hand, the construction agency NBCC stated that they can complete the construction work within one month but as the residents are not allowing to continue with the work it is getting delay.
However, most of the time reports of smuggling through the non-fencing areas are rampant. Therefore, if the work of the fencing remains suspended than it is going to hamper the locals nd their items.
However, the locals urge for immediate action over their demand otherwise they are not going to withdraw the suspension of the construction work of the border fencing.
