AGARTALA, Jan 19 (TIWN): Although Bishalgarh gas bottling plant gets refilled 24 trucks of LPG cylinders per day against its installed capacity of 18 bullets, still it fails to meet the need of the people of the State. Talking to TIWN Correspondent, official of Food Department on Monday said that altogether 24 trucks of LPG Cylinders get refilled every day against its installed capacity of 18 bullets yet the state is facing around 20 days of backlog. Though the daily requirements are being fulfilled with the 24 refilled trucks of LPG cylinders, but the State is facing around 20 days of backlog. Besides, he also mentioned that to meet the requirement of the people daily two to three trucks of LPG Cylinders has been imported from Silchar on daily basis. However, to meet the need of the State’s public of 12 LPG cylinders in a year a boost is required which can be fulfilled after the establishment of the new gas bottling plant.Besides, IOC is planning to install an oil depot at Shekerkut. On the other hand, earlier the State Government has demanded to IOC to provide 24 wagons. On the other hand, despite of the introduction of the modified direct benefit transfer scheme for LPG, black marketers of domestic cooking gas cylinders making the availability of the LPG cylinder tough for the consumers of the State. However, not getting the cylinders on time consumers in various parts of the State, staged road blockade and protest demanding to regularize the supply of cylinder in the State every after few days.

The agitated consumers failing to collect their cylinders from the agency has hit the street and blocked the traffic movement for hours.

Most of the time consumers of Agartala and of various parts in the State are severely hit by the shortage of Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) cooking gas cylinders over past many days.

As a result, black marketing is on the rise, with consumers forced to buy cylinders at prices ranging between Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,000 a piece.

Despite of several complains to the higher authority, no initiatives have been taken to solve the situation. Therefore, the common people are facing harassment.

However, Indian Oil Corporation is going to establish a mega gas bottling plant at Budhjungnagar Industrial Estate in Jirania subdivision.

However, according to the plan, the IOC wants to establish the mega gas bottling plant by next two years. If the plant is operational, it will produce 200 trucks LPG per day.

It seems like with the establishment of the bottling plant at Budhjungnagar, the prolonged problem faced by the common mass may end.
