KAMALPUR, Jan 19 (TIWN): The trial of the Raisyabari gang-rape case of a minor tribal girl started here today at the Court of the SDJM. The Court sent the trio for three days’ Jail custody up to 21st January. As the Court not heard the case last night due to the late arrival of the cops from Raisyabari, hence the three arrested was kept under the surveillance of Kamalpur police station. Then the police produced them before the Court of the SDJM. After hearing the case, the Court sent the trio to the jail custody for three days up to 21st January. On that day, they would be produced before the Court again.
It might be mentioned here that, the incident took place at Chandradayal Para under Raisyabari police station on 16th January around 6-30 pm. At that time, the victim Aparna Jamatia (name changed) was returning home from her elder brother’s house keeping the invitation of Makar Sankranti. When she came near her house, three youths namely Kumar Jamatia (21), Dhari Kumar Jamatia (26) and Khuphula Jamatia (24) took her to the nearby rubber plantation area forcibly. There they molested and raped the girl and absconded leaving her half-dead. Then, on her not returning home till 9 pm, the family members launched a vigorous search and found her in a critical condition. When shifted to hospital, she disclosed the names of the culprits and the police got informed. On that very night, police from Raisyabari police station led by SDPO Gamanjoy Reang rushed to the spot. Sp Dhalai Bijay Debbarma also rushed to the spot. At around 3-30 am morning; police nabbed the trio on the written complaint of the victim’s elder brother Sumantha Jamatia. Then the IO Jhutan Jamatia of Raisyabari police registered the 01/2016 number case under the sections 341, 376(D), 34 of IPC and 4 of POCSO Act.
