AGARTALA, Jan 17 (TIWN): The much talked Volvo bus service which was inaugurated with much of drama and festival, has now come to such a situation that it is hardly providing any service. Talking to TIWN correspondent on Sunday, Immigration official Kajal Das said that the regular Volvo bus service has broken down over past few days and no initiative is being taken to improve the service in the state. The Volvo bus service may be offering comfort to passengers but it is struggling to cater passengers. Reportedly, TRTC is not getting adequate numbers of passengers for travelling to Kolkata via Dhaka and above all the withdrawn of the hand written passport is also another issue. After waiting for several months, the state government has finally catered its own Volvo bus to the land locked Tripura to provide its own volvo bus service from Agartala to Kolkata via Dhaka but there is no adequate number of passengers to travel through the bus.Despite all odds and with an aim to meet the demand of the land-locked Tripura and to contain the rise in airfares the bus service for Agartala-Kolkata via Dhaka has started its journey from Agartala. After facing several obstacles, the much awaited state own Volvo bus service has finally kicked-off its journey.Apart he also said that sudden withdrawn of the hand written passport, the numbers of passengers travelling through the Volvo bus between Agartala to Kolkata via Dhaka has gradually come down and hardly any passengers travels through h this bus.It is to be mentioned here that as the handwritten passport is declared invalid it has also catered several problems for the common people, and they cannot travel to the neighbouring countries easily as they earlier did.

However, this declaration has also hampered the bus service in the state.Lakhs of money has been invested to buy a Volvo bus for providing service Agartala-Kolkata via Dhaka   but even after beginning its maiden service TRTC is still struggling to get adequate number of passengers.

Although the service is not stopped fully but the Volvo bus travels to Kolkata via Dhaka only once in a week and the service tenure has fully come down.

However, it has been a long term demand of the Tripura government to start direct bus service between Agartala and Kolkata via Bangladesh Dhaka, but interestingly the State Govt. here had failed to start the service on time despite Modi-Hasina flagged off the service on June 6.

Although much after Kolkata, Tripura government has started the service but is now crawling to provide service.
