KAMALPUR, Jan 18 (TIWN): The 12 hours strike in the three districts of the state namely North, Unakoti and Dhalai had a mixed impact today. The minimum numbers of picketers virtually failed to put restraint over the administrative works and vehicular movements in the three districts. However, common people found happily passing time in a holiday mood. The protest of CPI-M couldnot be claimed to attain a complete success in denying the strike. From the early morning vehicles under the banner of CITU started plying on the roads. But the numbers of passengers were very low. The officials reached their offices at the early morning, according to the instruction of the state government. Very few businessmen opened up their shops. However, the employees reached their offices. But the common people were present in few numbers. But the role of the police in front of the hurly-burly of the CPI-M party cadres remained unfair. The inactive role of the police created tension in front of the Kamalpur Court as the Congress and CPI-M picketers went face to face. However, SDPO immediately rushed to the spot and controlled the situation. Nothing untoward got reported so far. In the three districts almost thousands of picketers got arrested while picketing in favour of the strike. At Kamalpur, picketers got arrested in the leadership of District Congress President Manoj kanti Deb.
