It is to be mentioned here that the area where the piling work is going on right now at Battala which is the turning point to Melarmath, this will be the end of the flyover bridge in the Battala sector. Iron frame structure for pillars are already set up with the help of steel and iron bars and cement concrete. It is to be mentioned here that a total of 65 pillars will be constructed for the first ever fly over which will connect from Drop gate to fire brigade Chowmuhani. Once the cement casting for the first pillar at Battala gets complete the construction work will be expanded towards Bordowali. The workers are working with full efficiency to finish the construction work in the given deadline. On the other hand, with the passing days the traffic jam is rapidly increasing in the narrow roads of Tripura creating huge chaos every time due to the construction work of the flyover. Rampant smuggling continue across Indo- | AGARTALA, Dec 27 (TIWN): Despite of strict vigilance in the border area and the outposts of the state, smuggling goes rampant in various areas in the State. Talking to TIWN correspondents Superintendent of Police (West) Bijoy Nag on Saturday said that the police personnel are in regular check over any kind of intrusion in the major areas. Besides, he also mentioned that both Border Security Guards and the police personnel are keeping strict vigilance over major areas to curb the illicit intrusion of items. Allegedly despite of strict vigilance in the area, smuggling of Phensedyl a cough syrup, with an exceedingly high dose of codeine and other contraband items are increasing day by day in the state. According to the common mass in the area, smuggling of cows to Bangladesh has been matter of decades. Police has been often detaining number of vehicles and seize thousands of bottles of Phensedyl consignments that are not used in Tripura but are supplied to Bangladesh. BG conversion: Installation work of Rail | AGARTALA, Dec 26 (TIWN): With an aim to meet the dead line to connect Agartala with the country’s Rail network, the installation work of the railway signals is undergoing in full swing. Reportedly, the installation work of the signals is expected to get complete by March 2016. Days are not so far when after the BG (Broad gauge) conversion work, Agartala will also be connected with by BG track with country’s Railway network. It is to be mentioned here that the Badarpur-Agartala railway track conversion began from October 1 and the entire work is completed much before the stipulated March 2016 deadline. A total of around 227 km of track from Badarpur to Agartala is almost completed before March 31, 2016. It was possible because narrow gauge track was laid in a big portion of the track in Broad Gauge format. With conversion of the Broad Gauge, the name of the Agartala will manage to find a place in the Railway map of the Country. However, the construction of the railway stations, creation of water bodies and staff quarters have already been completed. Monarchak 101MW power plant continues to | AGARTALA, Dec 26 (TIWN): On the one hand where a unit of Palatana Power Plant is under shut down due to the dearth of gas supply from ONGC, it is seen that the 101MW Monarchak is generating power in full swing with ample amount of gas supply from ONGC, said NEEPCO GM SR Biswas. Talking to TIWN correspondent on Thursday, NEEPCO GM S.R.Biswas said that there is no problem in gas supply and ONGC is continuously supplying gas to Monarchak, and Monarchak power plant is also able to generate a total of 65 to 70 MW power on an average. He also said that if ONGC continues its gas supply, Monarchak will be able to take full load and there will be no dearth of electricity in the state. Powered by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), Tripura's 101 MW gas-based Monarchak power plant was completely shut down due to lack of supply of gas from ONGC. Unable to get the required supply of gas from ONGC, Monarchak has faced a daily loss of Rs 17 lakhs which monthly stands at around 5 crore.However, NEEPCO GM SR Biswas on Thursday confirmed that power generation is underway and is generating about 60 to 70 MW daily on an average.He also said that NEEPCO has demanded 0.5 MSCMPD gas but ONGC is able to supply only 0.2 to 0.3 MSCMPD due to technical problems. | 26-Dec-2015 |
Bangladesh agrees on zero line fencing a | AGARTALA/KAILASAHAR, DEC 26 (TIWN): Just after the Bangladesh has agreed to built the single row wire fencing along zero line in Kailasahar Municipal area on the Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura, NBCC construction agency is carrying out the fencing work of 485 Metre in full swing at Silpara area of kailasahar sub-division.To stem illegal immigration the construction is underway in full swing for single row-wire fencing along the Indo-Bangladesh border area at Kailasahar.The contract for the construction work is given to NBCC, and NBCC contractor Abdul Mannan said that work is under progress. A total of 485 meters of area will be fenced under this fencing project. He also said that as the political scenario of Bangladesh keeps on dwindling, it was promptly decided to carry out the fencing work at 485 meters area in Kailasahar.However, the sources said that the work began from December 10 and is likely to get completed by January. So far only 80 metre work is completed. The fencing will be carried out between pillar numbers 1862 to sub-pillar 1862-9s.It is to be mentioned here that earlier BGB and Bangladesh government had opposed the construction of fencing work along zero line in Kailasahar but recently in a meeting BGB has agreed to the construction of the fence across the border. | 25-Dec-2015 |

BG engine trial run to pave the way for | AGARATLA, Dec 25 (TIWN): Just counting days are left to kick-off the journey of the BG engine on the newly converted BG track in Tripura from Badarpur to Agartala on December 28. Talking to TIWN correspondent Transport Minister Manik Dey said that work is underway to complete the work in the given time and if everything fall in the right place the BG engine trial run is likely to be conducted on December 28. The Railway authority is hopeful of running the BG engine in the newly converted track. It is to be mentioned here that the narrow gauge railway track from Badarpur in Assam to Agartala into broad gauge is completed before March and the trial run engine is scheduled to be conducted on December 28. Tripura IT Minister & IT Secretary mum o | AGARTALA / KOHIMA , Dec 25 (TIWN): The Modi government is set to spend Rs 7,000 crore (nearly $1 billion) on laying a fibre optic network in the northeastern states to improve internet connectivity, but a senior government official from Nagaland has devised a solution that may not only cut costs by 75 percent but also be more effective.The official, K.D. Vizo, Nagaland's commissioner and IT secretary, has suggested an alternative technology - a High Altitude Platform Station (HAPS) - that can be operated from an unmanned airship or a balloon. This alternative comes at an estimated cost of Rs 1,750 crore, about 25 percent of the Rs 7,000 crore budget earmarked for the northeast out of the Rs.72,778 crore project under the National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN). The project is intended to enable the government provide e-services and e-applications nationally. "Underground optical fibre, laid in the hilly terrain of the northeastern states, with time has become defunct following landslides and soil erosion, a common phenomenon in the area because of the loose mountainous soil," Vizo told media persons. The northeastern region is entitled to a 90:10 share under the NOFN project, which is being funded by the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF).
