Bangladesh agrees on zero line fencing along Kailasahar border area : Fencing work underway in full swing

AGARTALA/KAILASAHAR, DEC 26 (TIWN): Just after the Bangladesh has agreed to built the single row wire fencing along zero line in Kailasahar Municipal area on the Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura, NBCC construction agency is carrying out the fencing work of 485 Metre in full swing at Silpara area of kailasahar sub-division.To stem illegal immigration the construction is underway in full swing for single row-wire fencing along the Indo-Bangladesh border area at Kailasahar.The contract for the construction work is given to NBCC, and NBCC contractor Abdul Mannan said that work is under progress. A total of 485 meters of area will be fenced under this fencing project. He also said that as the political scenario of Bangladesh keeps on dwindling, it was promptly decided to carry out the fencing work at 485 meters area in Kailasahar.However, the sources said that the work began from December 10 and is likely to get completed by January. So far only 80 metre work is completed. The fencing will be carried out between pillar numbers 1862 to sub-pillar 1862-9s.It is to be mentioned here that earlier BGB and Bangladesh government had opposed the construction of fencing work along zero line in Kailasahar but recently in a meeting BGB has agreed to the construction of the fence across the border.

An amount of 1 crore 20 lakh is sanctioned for the fencing project at Kailsahar Silpara area.

The Indo-Bangladesh border is marked by a high degree of porosity and checking illegal cross border activities has been a challenging proposition. The main problem is of illegal migration from Bangladesh into India. In order to prevent illegal immigration and other anti-national activities from across the border, the fencing work is carried out immediately after BGB has agreed to build single row fence across at 485 metre area of Kailsahar.

Sources confirmed that the Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) who was not ready for the border fencing in the concern area, during the meet accepted the proposal and showed green signal for the fencing work to start.

According to the sources report, earlier in the absence of border fence several smuggling cases occurred in the area. Even the locals were haunted with various kind of illicit work happened in the area.

The wire fencing work at kailasahar Silpara area is continuing amidst tight security as it is quintessential to complete the fencing work as early as possible.
