AGARATLA, Dec 25 (TIWN): Just counting days are left to kick-off the journey of the BG engine on the newly converted BG track in Tripura from Badarpur to Agartala on December 28. Talking to TIWN correspondent Transport Minister Manik Dey said that work is underway to complete the work in the given time and if everything fall in the right place the BG engine trial run is likely to be conducted on December 28. The Railway authority is hopeful of running the BG engine in the newly converted track. It is to be mentioned here that the narrow gauge railway track from Badarpur in Assam to Agartala into broad gauge is completed before March and the trial run engine is scheduled to be conducted on December 28. The Badarpur-Agartala railway track conversion began from October 1 and the entire work is completed much before the stipulated March 2016 deadline. A total of around 227 km of track from Badarpur to Agartala is almost completed before March 31, 2016. It was possible because narrow gauge track was laid in a big portion of the track in Broad Gauge format. Besides, other works like construction of railway stations, staff quarters or creation of water bodies have already been completed.Agartala will find a place in the railway map. Earlier in the first phase, 220-km-long gauge conversion was completed on the Lumding-Silchar route.

In the second phase, the long Badarpur-Agartala section is converted.

The successful run of the trains on the broad-gauge track will bring sync with those in the rest of the country and Tripura is gearing up for faster connectivity and communication with several parts of the nation.

However, the railway authority is equally working hard to build cross bridges over the rail line at every platform of the rail stations to ensure free movement of the passengers.

With the introduction of the BG facility, one could return from Guwahati to Agartala, capital town of the landlocked State –Tripura in a journey spanning around eight hours and if things fall in place, the ongoing work of BG conversion work from Lumding to Agartala via Badarpur would be completed shortly and the trial run will also carried out smoothly.

With the everyday progress in the conversion work, the common mass of the state is observing a ray of hope for faster communication and transportation.

Days are not so far when after the BG (Broad gauge) conversion work, Agartala will also be connected with by BG track with country’s railway network.

The pace of the conversion work shows that Agartala will soon be connected with the BG track to bring in sync with the rest of the country.
