AGARTALA, Dec 27 (TIWN): Tripura Tribal Employee Committee on Sunday organized 71st Jana Siksha Diwas at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan.
During the programme, it has been mentioned that when Tripura was a princely state the education was not as vast as it is today. Earlier only few schools were there near the palace in Agartala where people could study.
With an aim to take education in every houses in the State along with the interior parts of the state, a committee was formed naming Jana Sikha Samiti with eleven members.
Tripura Jana Siksha Samiti was established in the year 1945. The main aim of the establishment of Tripura Jana Siksha Samiti was to educate the people of the state.
Among the members of the committee, Former Chief Minister Dasharath Deb was the head of the committee. Besides, Hemanta Debbarma, Sudhannya Debbarma, Bidya Debbarma and others were involved with the committee.
The programme was inaugurated by the ADC Chairman Ranjit Debbarma.
It is to be mentioned here that a group of young educated tribals, including Dasarath Deb, Sudhana Debbarma, Aghore Debbarma and Nilmoni Debbarma formed an organisation for mass education called the Jana Siksha Samiti in 1945.
However, this organisation was formed with an aim to support education and to spread education among the tribals so that people can be educated .and gathers knowledge. Besides, to ensure that no children should left uneducated and face hurdles in the future.
