AGARTALA, Dec 26 (TIWN): With an aim to meet the dead line to connect Agartala with the country’s Rail network, the installation work of the railway signals is undergoing in full swing. Reportedly, the installation work of the signals is expected to get complete by March 2016. Days are not so far when after the BG (Broad gauge) conversion work, Agartala will also be connected with by BG track with country’s Railway network. It is to be mentioned here that the Badarpur-Agartala railway track conversion began from October 1 and the entire work is completed much before the stipulated March 2016 deadline. A total of around 227 km of track from Badarpur to Agartala is almost completed before March 31, 2016. It was possible because narrow gauge track was laid in a big portion of the track in Broad Gauge format. With conversion of the Broad Gauge, the name of the Agartala will manage to find a place in the Railway map of the Country. However, the construction of the railway stations, creation of water bodies and staff quarters have already been completed. In the first phase of the BG Conversion work, a total of 220 kilometre track has been completed on the Lumding-Silchar route.

Besides, in the second phase, the Badarpur – Agartala section has been completed. The successful run of the trains on the broad-gauge track will bring sync with those in the rest of the country and Tripura is gearing up for faster connectivity and communication with several parts of the nation.

However, the railway authority is equally working hard to build cross bridges over the rail line at every platform of the rail stations to ensure free movement of the passengers.

With the introduction of the BG facility, one could return from Guwahati to Agartala, capital town of the landlocked State –Tripura in a journey spanning around eight hours and if things fall in place, the ongoing work of BG conversion work from Lumding to Agartala via Badarpur would be completed shortly.

However, with the BG Conversion work going on in full swing, a ray of hope is observed among the common mass that the conversion work may complete on time and the people can enjoy the railway service. The initiation of the Railway service in the State will bring relief from the rising rates of air tickets.
