Discussion programme held on the occasion of 'Jai Kisan Jai Vigyan' week

UDAIPUR, Dec 26 (TIWN): To mark the celebration of the 'Jai Kisan Jai Vigyan' week initiated on December 23, a discussion programme has been organized on Saturday at Krishi Vigyan Kendra campus of Birchandra Manu.

The programme has been organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra of South Tripura.

ICAR Institutes and Krishi Vigyan Kendras across the country are organising various farmer awareness programs aiming to showcase and demonstrate new technologies for enhancing agriculture productivity and profitability.

During the programme, the farmers were guided about various programmes taken up by the centre and how through the institution the farmers can get help.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra is a district level institution (Farm Science Centre) engaged in transfer of latest agricultural technologies to the end users for bridging the gap between production and productivity.

The KVK South Tripura was established on 30th May 1984 under the administrative control of the ICAR Complex for North Eastern Hill Region. Since inception this KVK has been endeavouring for the upliftment of socio-economic condition of the farming community of the district through scientific intervention in the agricultural and allied sectors.

Farmers or any person or organization related to agriculture can avail the services of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra. The farmers can also interact with the scientists at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra and get consult on issues related to agriculture & allied fields & information on advanced technological options.

Farmers can get their soil & water samples tested at reasonable rates in our soil testing laboratory and also can be avail with many other facility.

During the programme it has been mentioned that in India there are 100 Krishi Vigyan Kendra.

Besides, a quiz competition has been organized among the farmers to encourage them in farming and gain more knowledge about the various skill of farming.
