Broad Gauge expansion till Udaipur facin | AGARTALA, Dec 2 (TIWN): Although there are not many reasons to delay the entry of BG train at Tripura by March 2016, but several hurdles might hit the BG conversion work up till Udaipur. There is no doubt the BG conversion work is progressing in full swing but the several hurdles may obstruct the BG conversion work at Udaipur. The railway authority has taken the required initiatives but the negligence of the state government might lead to the obstruction in the BG conversion work.It is to be mentioned here that so far the state government is yet failure in the land acquisition work at Udaipur since past one year. However, such hurdles might create problem in connecting Agartala with Udaipur through BG lines.The conversion work is underway in full swing, but several hurdles might disturb the conversion work. Manik’s Golden Era : State Govern | AGARTALA, Dec 2 (TIWN): Uncertainty looms large over the patient management at the GBP (Govinda Ballav Pant) Hospital; Minister Badal Choudhury claimed that the so called initiative for the improvement of the hospital is still under way.Talking to TIWN correspondent on Tuesday evening, Minister for Health & Family Welfare Badal Choudhury said that the numbers of patients are more compare to the number of bed in the Hospital.He further said that despite of having 900 beds, the hospital is unable to meet the need of the beds for the patients lying on the floor.Adding to the comment, Minister Choudhury further said that initiative for the improvement of the GBP Hospital is under way.But the question is, the pathetic scenario of the hospital is not new for the public or the department rather it is continuing for prolonged many years, so why the concern authority yet need more time to think about the improvement. India's 3rd Internet Gateway : Banglades | AGARTALA, Dec 1 (TIWN): Tripura’s milestone to emerge as the Third internet gateway is not so far as DGM (CFA) U.C. Bhowmik assured that the optical fiber laying work is likely to get complete by January 2015. He further said that tools, machineries, equipments, which have already reached to Guwahati and Engineers at Guwahati are monitoring well to cater the materials to Agartala.The much waited project of Internet Bandwidth from Bangladesh’s submarine cable for the up gradation of the internet services of the State seems to get connected in few days as the authority is working round the clock to complete the process of laying the submarine cable line upto Aukhaura in the given deadline.It is worthy to mention that the sources from Bangladesh assured the trial run of the transmission and the export would begin from Tuesday and formally start from Dec 7. The trial run would be conducted to check that the transmission is smooth.The cable laid from India’s Agartala was linked with Bangladesh’s transmission line at Akhaura.India-Bangladesh surplus under-sea internet bandwidth (10 Gbps) sale agreement was signed during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s historic June 2015 visit to Dhaka in presence of Hon. Over 4,000 km of road construction in no | NEW DELHI / AGARTALA, Dec 1 (TIWN / IANS) Over 4,000 km of roads and highways are to be constructed over the next few years in the northeastern states to improve connectivity and change the fortunes of the region, a top official has said.This constitutes the bulk of the 6,841 km of roads and highways to be built in India's hilly states, which include Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, at an estimated cost of Rs.45,164 crore (nearly $7 billion), said Anand Kumar, the first managing director of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL), which was created in 2014."We are the first to start 18 projects in Tripura, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh with a total length of 600 km at a cost of Rs.6,500 crore. This year we have started five projects in Arunachal Pradesh," Anand Kumar told IANS.The NHIDCL took over the projects of the Border Road Organisation (BRO) and the Public Works Department (PWD) of the states concerned and has started showing results in no time in terms of improving the shoddy condition of the roads and highways in the region, he added.Terming infrastructure the prime factor that can change the fortunes of the region, Anand Kumar said the corporation has taken all measures to maintain transparency and ensure that road and highway construction is all done with perfection.The company has decided on 11 projects in Manipur, nine in Meghalaya, three in Mizoram, four in Nagaland, 23 in Arunachal Pradesh and seven in Tripura. | 01-Dec-2015 |
CNG supply disrupts, workers held protes | AGARTALA, Dec 1 (TIWN): Numbers of CNG workers on Tuesday held protest at Badarghat CNG station for about two hours raising slogans to fulfil their demands. Alleging deprivation from their regular wages, to provide 12days holiday in the entire year, to provide them daily wage of Rs 350, to provide an extra salary of one month along with few other demands the CNG workers staged protest for about two hours.The protesters demonstrated at the entry of the CNG station and stopped the supply of CNG gas from the station raising traffic chaos. The protesters alleged that they are not given their regular salary and neither are they allowed to know their deposits at the provident funds. They further stated that they have been reporting the issue to their DSM, but even after several plea no action is taken fulfil their demands. With the aim to turn Tripura into a green city, efforts are in full swing to run vehicles by compressed natural gas (CNG), and government is further planning to set up more CNG station in more 7 sub-division but it is seen that they are not given their deserving wages and being deprived of their rights. There are five CNG stations in the state, an online mother station of TNGCL at Briddhanagar, Khayerpur one mother station at AD Nagar, one Daughter Booster Station at Abhoynagar, one mother station at TRTC Complex, Krishnagar and a Daughter Booster Station at Udaipur. | 01-Dec-2015 |
Repatriation uncertain, no revision of e | AGARTALA / AIZAWL, Dec 1 (TIWN / IANS) With the repatriation of 31,300 tribal refugees to Mizoram uncertain, there has been no revision of electoral rolls in the seven camps they are sheltered in Agartala for the last 18 years - with one official even attributing the limbo to road blockages by protesters.The Election Commission (EC) recently asked almost all states in the country, including Mizoram, to undertake a special summary revision of photo electoral rolls with January 1, 2016, as the qualifying date.As part of the exercise, the EC asked the Mizoram election department to also do so in the seven refugee camps as the migrants are inhabitants of Mizoram.According to officials, this sparked protests by youth organisations in Mizoram.The Young Mizo Association (YMA) and the Mizo Students Federation (MSF), the two most powerful youth bodies in Mizoram, declared their strong objection to the poll panel's move.Around 31,300 Reang tribals, who locally call themselves "Bru", have been living in seven makeshift camps in northern Tripura since October 1997 after they fled neighbouring Mizoram following ethnic troubles after the killing of a Mizo forest officer. | 01-Dec-2015 |

India ensures supply of additional 100 MW electricity to Bangladesh from December 16, when the country will celebrate Bijoy Dibosh or Victory Day.Reportedly, The 100 MW power will be dispatched to Bangladesh from Suryamaninagar power sub-station at the outskirts of Agartala and for transmission of 100 MW power, the works on transmission lines is undergoing rapidly with facilities of 400 KV double circuit transmission lines. Terminated Teacher Case: Uncertainty loo | AGARTALA, Dec 1 (TIWN): Much talked 10, 323 teachers jobs termination case further postponed to January 13 most probably or on January 17, said Minister for Education Tapan Chakraborty on Monday.Talking to TIWN correspondents Minister Tapan Chakraborty said that the hearing of the case has been postpone. Mentioning the date of the next hearing, Minister Chakraborty said that most provably that next date will be on January 13 or else on January 17. Besides, Minister also said that notice have to be sent to all the party which includes- Teacher, Opposition and the Government.A division bench of the Tripura High Court, comprising Chief Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Swapan Chandra Das, in its judgment May 7, 2014 terminated the jobs of 10,323 government school teachers citing discrimination and irregularities.Expressing hope for a positive judgement, Minister Chakraborty said that we are hoping that the recruited teachers will not have to depart from their job.However, after prolonged several months also the case has not been solved yet.
